Ovechkin Talkin' the Talk
The other day in St. Louis, goaltender Brent Johnson said the Caps needed to get their "swagger" back. He obviously wasn't referring to teammate Alex Ovechkin, who never seems to be lacking in the self-confidence department.
From last night's 7-1 blowout in Toronto:
"Nobody can stop me ... just me," Ovechkin said confidently with a chuckle.
Unfortunately, I've got to attribute that gem of a quote to this Toronto Sun article because Ovechkin was surrounded by so many reporters and cameras in the visitors' dressing room at ACC that I couldn't get within five feet of him.
Just in case you've lost track, Ovechkin has eight goals and 15 points in 11 games this season, putting him on pace for a career-best 60 goals and 112 points. He's also got a plus-minus rating of +3.
Note: The Caps are traveling to NYC today, but I'm headed home for a day and a half. I'm going to meet up with them for Thursday's game at Madison Square Garden. If there's any news regarding the injured players (Chris Clark, Alexander Semin and Tom Poti) today, I'll be sure to post an update.
