What the hell did GMGM just do?
THey just traded down in stead of taking Petrecki for a 2nd rounder next year????!!! Whats the difference? He was the meanest raw d man available! Do they think that the 41st pick is going to be better? Do they think that the 2nd rounder next year is going to be better? WTF? You are going to have a hell of a hard time explaining this one, George. Too bad you have to be the messenger Tarik.

George you are a disgrace to us other GM's. You should be fired on the spot. Hopefully you aren't here to make that 2nd rd pick next year. As my boy Billick would say, you are a slapdick.

Someone knock Ted on the head and take the damn keys away from GMGM. This team will never move forward while those two clowns are running the show.

Rebuild dis freaks!

Tarik, I hope you have a chance to ask McPhee why he made that deal. On the surface it doesn't make a lot of sense.

My opinion on the trade is; the Caps save money for UFA signings. First rounders expect to get paid. All of the draft experts have said talent level after about 15th is not much different anyway.

The kid they passed up on was listed as 14 by the humble folk at TSN. It was a judgement call. THey didn't think he was a first rounder in any other draft and thought "2 of less than you is better". Maybe it was part of a potential trade talk and ole george sweetened the deal at the right time to accomplish what he really wanted. Lets see. Because if he did, then it was very well done. Unless you don't like who he got. Then bets are off. It was either savvy or questionable at best. I'm riveted!

"THey just traded down in stead of taking Petrecki for a 2nd rounder next year????!!! Whats the difference? He was the meanest raw d man available!"

The Caps have so freaking many defensive prospects that they could pool them and make a brand new minor league team. We don't need any more... what we need it to trade a couple of them for a veteran D-man to teach the rest how to play at the NHL level.

Alzner is a good catch, as he's rated as being closest to NHL ready. The kid is good, ranked higher than Cherapanov, and natural blue line talent is something that's hard to come by - something that a lot of our prospects lack, with a couple of exceptions.

Now GMGM needs to make this collateral get us somewhere. 3 picks in the top 16 of the next round is not bad trade fodder.

I'm good with Alzner. I didn't think he'd be there. LA had a plan too. The russian would have been over later rather than sooner. I didn't like the Penguins getting Esposito. Talk about taking the pressure off that kid. Fricken Penguins. Somehow they keep making out well. Its maddening.

Trading down for a 2nd and a late 2nd next year??? There had better be more to this trade than just draft picks. Is this a prelude to a Marleau trade to the Caps? There are many unhappy fans in regard to this foolhearty move!

Hey, as an NHL team owner I need a good GM. Looks like there are lots of them here on the message board. I especially like the way you all critique the Caps GM for not making a deal without even knowing what he was offered. You all must be clairvoyant or something (or hacked into his cell phone). And the way you all predict doom and gloom before the major free agent season opens up represents the type of postive out look I'm looking for. Call me.

I do not believe it is
televised today. I chacked V.S for today and it is not shown as being played.

Anyone know what GMGM traded the 41st pick for?

Posted by: Jeff | June 23, 2007 10:49 AM | Report abuse

3 defensemen, and can't find what we got for the 41st pick. really loading up on the defensemen. I REALLY hope whatever the plan is pans out...

That's it. I'm done. McDumbnuts passes on Petrecki (they showed highlights of this guy knocking people out with crushing checks) then drafts Josh Godfrey with the 34th. I can't find him on any scouting list. I looked at his stats and he's a career minus player. Please Ted leave, just go. Sell the team and take George with you. I can't stand it anymore. I'm so desperate I might have to start rooting for @#$%sburgh.

I must be blind, are you in the picture? Did they change the Frozen Moment to a different picture from the one you linked?

Posted by: Anonymous | June 23, 2007 1:52 PM | Report abuse

Tarik you seem a little pale on that picture. Was it the quality of the draft that scared you?

Godfrey is the real deal!! He would have been A 1st round pick if not for going through the draft the second time. He likely has the best offencive stats for a D in the draft. Did you not notice his playoff #'s. 7 goals in 6 games tied for the OHL top scorer in the 1st round of the playoffs.

Did you ever think that central scouting makes mistakes?? The Caps made the right move, he would have been gone to another team. The Kid sure can shoot 100mph.Great selection Caps!!!!
