Report: NHLPA Boss Saskin To Be Fired

According to this story in the Toronto Globe and Mail.

It's a good refresher on all of the turmoil the players' association has dealt with the past three years.

Can they get rid of Bettman while they're at it? PLEASE?

I for one am really disappointed in this development. Everyone knows when there's any sort of a crisis or there appears to be some sort of incompetence by management, you simply bury your head in the sand and continue to support the man/team...whatever.

Those are not the new uniforms. It was created by a Washington Capitals board member named Angstboy. He has repeatedly noted that they are not the jersey and they came from his own imagination. He in fact created a second jersey and indicated that those two were fake. Elliott in the Morning made reference to them perhaps being the real jersey, but they are not.

The new uniforms have not leaked, other than red, white and blue with rumors of a darker red and blue than was on the original jersey.

The most shocking part of that article, to me, were these words at the end of the story: "NHLPA legal counsel Stu Grimson".

Those in the picture from the link above show a close resemblance to Colorado Avalance colors.

hahaha on what fjc33 said.

as far as the league needing a guy to prevent another work stoppage, i assume you're talking about replacing bettman and i agree fully with that. after all it was betmann and the owners who back him that locked out the players and refused the compromise deals.

on the NHLPA, the CBC archive has some great video of a retired Maurice Richard talking about how he and fellow players were scammed by teams in the heyday of the original 6. and despite the legacy of the 1980s' NHLPA head Alan Eagleston pick pocketing the players and then Saskin, they might still be one of the better pro sport player's unions out there. not saying much there, but maybe the lunch-pale blue collar culture and having each other's backs has something to do with it.

in the end the players fought back and took control of their union. nfl retirees take note.
