Rookie Game Lineup; Gustafsson Out

Here are the line combinations and defensive pairings for today's rookie game against the Flyers' rookies.

Forwards
Bouchard-Perreault-Pinizzotto
Osala-Beagle-Kugryshev
Lacroix-Morin-Leffler
Taylor-Broda-Della Rovere

Defense
Alzner-Godfrey
Mestery-Carlson
Dovgan-Collins

Goalies
Varlamov
Neuvirth
Holtby

You have probably noticed that first round draft pick Anton Gustafsson is not listed. He aggravated a herniated disc in his back during Sunday's suicides and hasn't been on the ice since. He told me this morning that he's still hurting and has had trouble sleeping. He is scheduled to return to Sweden tomorrow and said he'll likely be sidelined for a little while, though he doesn't think the injury is serious or will require surgery.

You got to worry about back issues like that, I know Fehr didnt have the same problem, but he was sidelined for a long time.

This cant be good for his career outlook.

Crippling back injury sidelines a top prospect...now where have we seen this movie before?

The pain of being stuck at work and unable to go the rookie game is killing me! Do you think if I showed up without a ticket I'd be able to get in, I bet a lot of people who signed up for tickets won't show and only did it because it was free.

On a side note picked up NHL 09 yesterday and am working my way up the Bears defensive pairings, anyone know about how many games it takes to get to the big show?

They knew of his back problems, to have do all that after a long plane ride? Stupid, no reason for it. He probably would have been better off staying in Sweden, at least he would be playing (he did play in the preseason)

Error: Gabby. Has he been asked if he considered AG's surgery/etc. when he had him skate suicides? A little caution clearly would have been in order.

I don't get how there was a prospect game when the prospects are in camps. I think this may be as far as Atlanta gets.

Loved Traverse City, though. Great town. Great golf courses there.

Is the rookie game online? If so, where on the caps website can we watch it?

Anyone want to guess at the over and under for fights, this is after all the caps and flyers rookie game. And might as well give us score as well
5 fights
5-2 caps

lay off bb if his back was hurt during suicides how well would it stand up during game action. His back is bad and we drafted him anyway wanna blame bb for that too? If his back isnt ready to go it is up to ag to let the team know

The game will be streamed live on Caps TV. Just go to the website.

It's unfortunate about the injury but if a player isn't fit to skate tough drills then he shouldn't be at camp.

Don't blame BB for AG's pain, blame George McPhee for drafting a guy who has had MAJOR back surgery, what a joke of a pick!

egad, what a whoopin. there's no question we've got some very skilled young players in the pipeline. remember a few years ago when it seemed the entire caps prospect chain was jeff halpern clones? no longer, my friends.
