Semin Day-to-Day
Alexander Semin left tonight's game late in the second period with what a team official called a "sore foot." The left wing did not return to the game and is questionable for tomorrow's contest in Atlanta.
I did not see Semin get hurt and he wasn't around when the dressng room was opened to the media (he was probably receiving treatment.)
I do, however, recall him missing about 10 minutes of Monday's practice while trying on different skates. Perhaps he's got a blister. But that's purely speculation.
I won't arrive in Atlanta until late afternoon, but will update when I hear something definitive.

Leave Semin alone. He'll be a star at the Worlds this year

Tarik, I love to s-can all the gossipy crap and hear what the insider knows about gmgm's plans for draft day? They gotta be in the top four again so I figure that will have a shot at Alzner. What have you heard?

It was Morrison and he took a shot off the wrist. He went down in the slot with about 25 second left to block a shot and did a good job of it. Just hope that he's ok as he wasn't able to get off the ice. Gutsy move by the kid to stay out there while in pain to make sure his team got the win. Another note that nobody has brought up, the Capitals are now 17-16-7 at home which means they scored a point in 24 of their 40 home games this season. Something to at least build on and statistically, the worst they'll finish at home is at .500.

I also noticed Semin complaining about his skates and wincing during warm ups at the Pittsburgh game last week, so his foot has been bothering him for a while.

Is it just me or Gordo was absolutely flying out there last night!

Per AHL transactions and Bear's e-mail Steckel was called up and Schutlz was sent down.
Noticed on Vogel's GDT, Cassivi is listed. I haven't seen a transaction yet. Is Kolzig out?

Getting draft day plans out of GMGM is not easy. In 2004, he wouldn't confirm that he was drafting Ovechkin until about 12 hours before. Which is fine. He plays his cards close.
But I can tell you that I don't expect them to make all of their selections. I would be shocked if there was a deal (or two) on draft day.
I also know that when the team was in Montreal, GM went to look at Angelo Esposito.

Hey Tarik! I assume the Steckel callup means no Semin tonight? Its a shame, I wanted to see him hit 40. Anyway, just wanted to say, I enjoy all the inside looks you give us and keep up the great work!

Since when do the caps announce injuries? We are one secretive team yet we announce this injury? Maybe because the season is over, but why change policies now? I was almost certain Semin had gotten his bell rung when he got bulled over by Ovechkin.

Is Semin's NHL season over or is he going to play on Saturday?
Thanks.
