Semin Leaves Practice Early
Injured winger Alexander Semin (back/shoulder) left practice after about 40 minutes. Not sure what that means. But I'll have an update after practice.

I'm not liking this....

No bueno! Hopefully he's being cautious and can get back into the lineup in Anaheim.
SomberoGuy: I believe the injury came after he took a shot, not after a hit/check sustained.

Not sure if anyone else has asked this but Tarik can you address the rumors floating around Sports Illustrated's website and the Boston Globe about the Caps trying to deal Nylander to the Blackhawks this weekend? Is it just rumormongering from the Globe or were they talking?

Has anyone else ever heard the story about Jet Li kicking so hard during a film shoot that he broke his leg in 3 places (or something like that)?
Semin shot SO HARD that his wrist is inside out, he herniated 4 discs, and the puck is now lodged so far in the netting that it'll take surgery to disentangle the net from around the goalie's throat.
How's THAT for imagery? :-)
Get better, Sasha!

Please don't need surgery...

Maybe Semin just has stiffness in his back, and the doctors though skating and stretching it out would help.
Sometimes tightness in muscles need movement, and not just sitting still.
Im no doctor, but I assume that may be the case today.

DrinkingPartner: No jinxy. None. DO NOT WANT. DX
Seriously, that's twice he's left a practice or warmup early. I'm concerned that he is trying to push himself too hard. No repeats of last year. That would be bad.
Seriously, I'd rather him not make this trip than have him try to push too hard and end up performing at 50 or 60 percent for half the season.

Not that this has anything to do with Semin but I just thought I would share.
There is a good picture on NHL.com in the frozen moment of Huet on his back.

Let's hope it's just minor, because it would really suck to have him miss a lot of games after that start.
Speaking of missing games, what are the chances Sloan stays in the lineup and Juice sits a few games? Probably needed, but with our cap situation I guess it's unlikely.

It's no jinx -- as we all know, Jet Li came back from his mishap to be one of the greatest Kung-Fu movie stars of all time.
Besides, as unusual as it may be as a sports fan, I don't believe in jinxes. So... I liked my version of events, personally.

Oh, sure, I knew that... Who's Jet Li?

Semin needs to take his time coming back. We don't need a reinjury of his undisclosed upper body injury, period.

Sorry, Greg, it's hard to tell whether that's sarcasm or actual wonderment.

Tarik, please give your best guess as to whether or not Semin will be out all week. Do you think they have any plans to put him on IR for a week to make sure he is completely healthy before he plays? Your thoughts please!

Did anybody notice when Semin first got hurt? Was it the result of a check, or did he stain/pull something.
