Semin Leaves Warm Up (Update)

Here's to hoping that Semin is at 100% soon! and the caps get another WIN tonight :)

I hope he took himself out so he is 100% for the west coast swing. Caps have got to get at least 2 of 4 in the west.

The NJ Devils feed showed Semin grimacing after taking a shot and soon after left the ice. Im thinking wrist/arm/shoulder?

Game feed is live on CSN and CSN HD (in widescreen, not HD). Broadcast was not scheduled to be HD, so I definitely appreciate the extra screen real estate!

OK, it sucks that we lost, but remember this extra point in the standings in April. Ovechkin and crew absolutely stole this point for the team.

i'll take the point for that horrible display of defense.

Happy, not just because of the point but cause the Caps are improving effort-wise and on the "never quit" attitude.

I'm glad to get a point in that game with the awful defense...but really, we should've won that game easily. Without Brodeur, New Jersey is not that great...their defense pretty bad. That being said, Washington is disgraceful in the shootout. Any stat guy on here know if there is a team in the NHL that is worse than the Caps since they started the whole shoot out thing??? If a game goes to shoot out, I usually leave the room because it's pretty much an automatic loss. With all the talent and firepower, that's pretty pathetic.

Dang. 0-3 on the Shootout is weak to say the least. JT wasn't stellar but did play very well. Let's just make the road trip a good one.

Not having Semin in the shootout definetely hurt... nothing against Boyd but i think Nylander should have took the third shot in the shootout...

The CAPS steal a point tonight on a game they deserved to come away with zero points. The defense was not good and I'm sure BB and staff will study the film and work on the corrections.

Overall, we will take the point on the road. (Even against NJ we can not be expected to win them all, but we sure do hope for it!)

Just curious, but does it seem we lose a lot more players to some type of injury vs. the other teams? Does any one have team injury stats?

It's not often that a goalie gives up 5 goals and still be good. Theo kept us in the game, we had a pretty lacking effort in the D-zone tonight.

Green and Nylander were both SUCKO tonight.

Schultz played well, just got railroaded by having to be Green's partner. MG had even more turnovers than usual.

Bruce rewarded Gordon's good effort tonight. Nylander was awful again and didn't deserve to be the shootout hero. May not make sense from a bigger picture perspective but there it is.

i'm serious, does anyone know if there's a team that's lost more shootout games by percentage than the Caps since they started using it?? Or does anyone have any idea where to look this up, I really am curious.

Found this link, not sure if the numbers are accurate, BUT, interesting stat near the bottom of the page confirming what I thought...the Caps are absolutely dreadful in the shootout. As many losses as they have doing this, wouldn't it be something you'd want to practice...a lot???

I can't wait until Fedorov returns, the Semin-Fedorov combo will be unreal.

@badkarma723 - I think we don't practice the shootout enough because we don't want to be stuck in a shootout position. We want to win in regulation time, or at the very worst in sudden death overtime. Secure the game before that last buzzer. But I agree - we need to practice it a bit more, or at the very least, leave Ovechkin out of it. He can be a beast when he's out there with the team, but in a one-on-one situation, he gets stopped more than 3/4 of the time. :-(

Also - Semin-Bäckström-Ovechkin is a great line; save Fedorov to head up the 2nd line and drop Clark down to the 3rd.
