Shotless Period Correction

Last night, I reported that the Caps had held a team without a shot in a period for the third time in franchise history when they blanked the Panthers in the third at BankAtlantic Center. Well, the media guide forgot to mention one other instance.

Last night was actually the fourth time the Caps have done it, and even more interesting, three of those times have come against Florida.

In addition to last night, the Caps accomplished the feat on Feb. 13, 2003 and Feb. 24, 1994 against Florida and Dec. 26, 1975 against Minnesota.

Check back tomorrow morning for an update from the morning skate at St. Pete Times Forum, where the Caps will be preparing to visit the Lightning.

3-1 Carolina over NJ in the 3rd. Good result for us.

wow! Carolina is beating the Devils so far and Brodeur is NOT in goal. Go Carolina!!! If the Hurricanes win and we beat Tampa, we'll be ahead.

Maybe BB will give Theo a rest and start Varly against TB. Getting some rubber thrown at him now I'm sure would help come mid April.

Amusing promo commercial on the Carolina broadcast...promoting the next Canes/Caps game. Says "they took what was ours last year...this year, we take it back and dish out our own version of Capitals punishment". Hahahaha...priceless. I hope they get in the playoffs so we can bounce them.

"they took what was ours last year...this year, we take it back and dish out our own version of Capitals punishment".

Actually, it was up for grabs, and we grabbed it. Thanks for not challenging us this year, either Carolina. Enjoy the back nine.

I can't believe we held the North Stars without a shot during a game period in '75. That year, Ivan Labre, Ron Low and company won only 11 games! I imagine D.C. was playing at home and was much better rested.

Davethecapsfan: LOL! Yup, we took it from them! Carolina LOST to the Panthers... we didn't take it from them, it fell into our laps. Good luck, Carolina, trying to take back the division from us, it isn't gonna happen. What losers who made up the promo! In their dreams! I hope saying this doesn't come back to haunt me but I don't think Carolina will win their last 10 games and we lose our last 10 games.
