Sloan Recalled
With Tom Poti still hobbled by a nagging groin injury, defenseman Tyler Sloan has been recalled from Hershey.
I'll have more shortly.

Sloan is good - I would take him over Lepisto.

But why not Alzner???

ERHDC1:
That I cannot answer ... Alzner has played more recently, right? Maybe they want to reevaluate Sloan in the bigs so that they know how much bench strength they have going into the playoffs? Or maybe they are just being really tight with $$ in case Pothier comes back? I dunno - your guess is as good as mine.

Lepisto ain't all that. Sloan is the better choice.

Sloan over Lepisto, but Alzner over both.

Sloan over Alzner, for now, because Alzner playing 40 games means his UFA year comes sooner.

What he said, plus remember that Pothier's possible return throws a monkey wrench into the cap situation. Our cap situation is weird as HELL right now, and if I calculate correctly, we barely have room for Chinese takeout (thank you JSchon for that oh-so-apt metaphor) under the cap.
I like Sloan, personally. Also, for those of you complaining that we don't hit and don't play physical, I remind you of this legendary smack.

sloan over both alz and lepisto. Lepisto just sucks. Alz needs more seasoning and that free agency thing factors in. Sloan makes mistakes but he provides some energy and he can skate and play his end, a rarity these days for Caps blueliners
I'll say this, if Alzner was truly a current asset to this team, they'd recall him considering the shape they're in defensively. But he's not all that. And so no point in compromising his free agency status in a few years in order to get a few games out of him now.

Sloan? Why not Lepisto or Karl?
