Stamkos, As Expected, Goes No. 1
The 2008 NHL Entry Draft is finally upon us, and Tampa Bay has -- surprise, surprise -- selected consensus top pick Steven Stamkos with the No. 1 overall pick. Get to know this kid, Caps fans. You're going to see a lot of him next winter.

Well, I'm glad the kid is friendly since we get to see him so much next season. Maybe I could even get a hug... :-P

So anyone taking bets on how Pierre can ruin the draft broadcast? Where are Keith Jones and Engblom(sp) when we need them??
Tampa. Do we taunt Stamkos, St Louis, or Melrose?

Kim, Melrose, St Louis, then Stamkos. He's just a kid that ended up in Tampa, although if he signs in a few years, I'd go on ahead and start the heckling.

Hi Tarik,
I've been laying low since the Caps/Flyers series. Now that it's Draft Day, I have a few questions for you.
What progress have the Caps made with re-signing Federov? Next, how's Nylander's rehabilitation coming along?
I ask these questions because the center position is, as you've pointed out, another area where the Caps could use some help - during the draft or otherwise!
Keep up the summertime blogging!

Nylander is fully recovered. Fedorov and the Capitals remain far part, but a compromise could be reached if both sides come to their senses.

Memo to whomever announces the picks:Stop mentioning the random sports bar where your fans are having a draft party. It's freaking annoying.
