Sutherby Traded
Just received word that center Brian Sutherby has been traded to Anaheim for a second round pick in 2009. That was the move that the Caps needed to make to clear space for Alexander Semin, who is coming off IR today.
Once considered a core part of the Caps' rebuild, Sutherby, and alternate captain and one of the most popular guys in the room, had fallen oujt of favor with the organization this season as underscored by his lack of playing time. He had played in only five games, skating on the fourth line, and had one goal.
I was joking around with him yesterday and he didn't mention anything about a trade, so I'm guessing this was (good) news to him.
More later.
