Today's Lineup: Caps at Rangers

Simeon Varlamov will be in net again this afternoon as the Caps attempt to stave off elimination once again and force the series back to Washington for a decisive Game 7 on Tuesday. Henrik Lundqvist will return to the net and agitator Sean Avery will be back in the lineup for the Rangers, who won't have suspended coach John Tortorella.

The rest of the Caps' lineup should look like this:

Forwards
Ovechkin-Fedorov-Kozlov
Fleischmann-Backstrom-Semin
Laich-Steckel-Bradley
Brashear-Gordon-Fehr

Defense
Morrisonn-Green
Jurcina-Poti
Erskine-Pothier

If anything changes, I'll post an update. If not, check back later for some post-game notes and quotes.

Edit from Lindsay: We won't have a live game chat today, but visit twp.com/sports from your mobile phone and click on "Caps Playoffs Central" for live updates and analysis.

ack, I fell me IQ dropping. Milbury and McGuire are on my TV!

Posted by: RedBirdie | April 26, 2009 2:03 PM | Report abuse

McGuire is such a dagger.

Posted by: Davethecapsfan | April 26, 2009 2:04 PM | Report abuse

I never realized just how much McGuire looks like a turtle until now.

Posted by: jmu_capsgirl | April 26, 2009 2:05 PM | Report abuse

Sorry Pee-air is on the air :(.

Posted by: akus2 | April 26, 2009 2:05 PM | Report abuse

apparently, my IQ dropped more than I thought. Yikes, a blind money could have typed a better sentence.

btw, NBC showed ovie skating around in warm ups with a VERY red patch of hair.

Posted by: RedBirdie | April 26, 2009 2:05 PM | Report abuse

jmu_capsgirl,

Pee-ear wears pink turtlenecks.

Posted by: akus2 | April 26, 2009 2:06 PM | Report abuse

Ovie has had it dyed the whole series I believe. Backstrom and Green did it as well.

Posted by: Davethecapsfan | April 26, 2009 2:07 PM | Report abuse

NBC just reported that the Rangers have requested, through the NHL, that the CAPITALS be disciplined for failing to provide adequate security. WTF?

Posted by: RedBirdie | April 26, 2009 2:08 PM | Report abuse

It seems that the Rags are crying like little babies about the situation near their bench at the Verizon Center.

Posted by: MReilly9 | April 26, 2009 2:08 PM | Report abuse

This game is going to be sick...I don't know if I could take OT.

Posted by: Davethecapsfan | April 26, 2009 2:08 PM | Report abuse

where can i see the game online?

Posted by: bigschu8 | April 26, 2009 2:08 PM | Report abuse

What was about altercation during the warmups?

Posted by: fnralch | April 26, 2009 2:09 PM | Report abuse

I am sure that Cap fans should be disciplined by the league for taunting the Rags and their coach.

Posted by: MReilly9 | April 26, 2009 2:09 PM | Report abuse

remind me to never complain again about Locker and his over-reliance on his "word of the day" calendar. NBC broadcasters are awful.

Posted by: RedBirdie | April 26, 2009 2:10 PM | Report abuse

gonchpup,
I hope for your sake you are calm.
Playoff hockey makes life short and nerves frazzled.

Posted by: akus2 | April 26, 2009 2:10 PM | Report abuse

don't even Think about OT

Posted by: bluejeener1 | April 26, 2009 2:10 PM | Report abuse

Posted by: MReilly9 | April 26, 2009 2:09 PM | Report abuse

Reportedly, it was Rangers fans harassing Tortarella.

Posted by: RedBirdie | April 26, 2009 2:11 PM | Report abuse

I just hope some moron in NY doesn't try to do something to Boudreau - especially since the NHL found that Torts acted first.

However, I think that Boudreau actually has some class and self-restraint.

That said, this could be an UGLY game!

Posted by: suzannepdc | April 26, 2009 2:11 PM | Report abuse

Adequate security?! Handcuffing torts?

Posted by: uncatim | April 26, 2009 2:12 PM | Report abuse

Love the Brash pre-game shove to Orr!

Posted by: MReilly9 | April 26, 2009 2:12 PM | Report abuse

Nice, Brash! Dude was on our side of the red line. Love the attitude

Posted by: JS26121820 | April 26, 2009 2:13 PM | Report abuse

Brash vs. Orr in first minute of the game. I can't wait!

Posted by: TJ91 | April 26, 2009 2:13 PM | Report abuse

augh, I missed it!

Posted by: RedBirdie | April 26, 2009 2:13 PM | Report abuse

Anyone know anything about the "altercation" during warmups?

Maybe Brashear/Orr?

Posted by: adamkatzen | April 26, 2009 2:13 PM | Report abuse

fnralch:
brash and orr were at center ice and brash gave him i little shove and then skated away

Posted by: Capt_Kirk_in_AZ | April 26, 2009 2:14 PM | Report abuse

would like to see the caps ask for discipline against the rangers for not controlling their fans from throwing coins on the ice like they allegedly did at the end of game 3. guys can get seriously hurt hitting a coin on the ice.

Posted by: dcsportsfan1 | April 26, 2009 2:14 PM | Report abuse

wait, how the he!! is Orr even on the ice?! He should have been suspended after that little clotheslining incident last game.

Posted by: RedBirdie | April 26, 2009 2:15 PM | Report abuse

im nervous, and i never get nervous....

Posted by: wtf_e_fehr | April 26, 2009 2:15 PM | Report abuse

Colton Orr.

True American Hero.

Posted by: richmondphil | April 26, 2009 2:16 PM | Report abuse

it's 2:16 and the game is not starting!!!!!!!! come on!!

Posted by: rachel216 | April 26, 2009 2:17 PM | Report abuse

Forget it, Callahan. You can't even contain Ovie! Shouldn't you be detention anyway after the DHL truck caught you?

Posted by: JS26121820 | April 26, 2009 2:17 PM | Report abuse

Orr is scratched by the way.

Posted by: richmondphil | April 26, 2009 2:18 PM | Report abuse

Are Cap fans going to listen to the NBC feed, or the radio feed with Kolbe?

Posted by: MReilly9 | April 26, 2009 2:18 PM | Report abuse

rachel216, Puck drop is 2:20.

Posted by: jmu_capsgirl | April 26, 2009 2:18 PM | Report abuse

Redbirdie- if you think Joe B and Locker are bad you need to get Center Ice. They are a blessing compared to most especially what NBC puts out with the exception of Mike Doc Emeric

Posted by: pokerface1208 | April 26, 2009 2:19 PM | Report abuse

wtf_e_fehr: Same, I'm soooo nervous... literally shaking and my heart is beating really fast.

Don't let me down Caps!!

Posted by: rachel216 | April 26, 2009 2:19 PM | Report abuse

anyone know where i can see the game online?

Posted by: bigschu8 | April 26, 2009 2:19 PM | Report abuse

akus2

Shaking already... this is what it's all about. Should be a beast of a game - just hope the Torts thing won't turn it into a mess. Game on...gotta go.

Posted by: gonchpup | April 26, 2009 2:20 PM | Report abuse

pokerface, we actually have center ice, but its so Mr. Red can watch Wings games. (its absurd that we pay that much so he can watch one team!)

Posted by: RedBirdie | April 26, 2009 2:20 PM | Report abuse

I am going to miss Joe B and Locker excellent play-by-play of what places they visited, how one of them got the other, whose mom makes the best pies, etc. etc.

Caps on 7.

Posted by: opita1 | April 26, 2009 2:21 PM | Report abuse

these guys dont even know who is on the ice....

Posted by: wtf_e_fehr | April 26, 2009 2:22 PM | Report abuse

bigschu8 - Don't know about watching it online, but you can listen to the radio broadcast by going to http://washingtoncaps.com/ and click the "Live on WJFK 106.7" link.

may I add how impressed I've been with Juice this series?

Posted by: RedBirdie | April 26, 2009 2:22 PM | Report abuse

Red - My sister and BIL get Center Ice and the Sunday ticket soley for the Lions and Wings games - which is even more absurd! :)

Posted by: suzannepdc | April 26, 2009 2:23 PM | Report abuse

gotta control those rebounds....thats his weakness right now

Posted by: wtf_e_fehr | April 26, 2009 2:23 PM | Report abuse

how embarrassing is it for the Rangers that they've been shut out TWICE by a guy who has Hershey Bears painted on his helmet?

Posted by: RedBirdie | April 26, 2009 2:24 PM | Report abuse

Luuuundqviiiist ... Luuuundqviiiist ...

Posted by: stacktracer | April 26, 2009 2:33 PM | Report abuse

Has shades of Game 1. Caps score then give one up again quickly. That PP goal they allowed deflated them, and it gave the Rangers energy. But on that goal, Poti could have collected and cleared, but he just coasted back. And Brashear's cheap shot was idiotic. This game is slowly slipping away from the Caps.

Posted by: CDon | April 26, 2009 2:41 PM | Report abuse

Where is the OV cam? on NBC?
