Atlanta is looking up the standings at us, because we are in FIRST place in the division!

Apparently game won't be streamed tonight. In fact atdhe won't stream any game tonight, which worries me a little.

If you want to make a good deed to a Caps fan, be my eyes tonight :(

Posted by: mauree | February 26, 2009 6:46 PM | Report abuse

@Wemiss21

That's what scares me! We tend to look past these games, but I don't think we will tonight because of the game vs. Philly.

Also, I love your username, I miss that guy A LOT. :`(

Poor mauree, you don't get to see Neuvy. I'll try to help you if I can.

Posted by: rachel216 | February 26, 2009 6:47 PM | Report abuse

nhl cracked down on atdhe.net

they will never stream another nhl game.

Posted by: richmondphil | February 26, 2009 6:50 PM | Report abuse

Oh, that sucks. Then why can they stream other games, like NBA games, soccer and baseball?

Posted by: rachel216 | February 26, 2009 6:53 PM | Report abuse

good luck to our boys. I'm DVRing the game, so I will not be looking at updates

Sorry Mauree.

Posted by: Leeguru | February 26, 2009 6:54 PM | Report abuse

Don't forget everybody, Day in the Life with Greener on Nhl Network at 7, I'll be recording that and watching after the game.

Koz rang the post

Posted by: ludeman95 | February 26, 2009 7:13 PM | Report abuse

I'm watching Day in the Life now. Its okay so far. Greener was calling Ovi "Gary" I think. And Semin "Ron". Its got his new place and the Lambo.

Posted by: mauree | February 26, 2009 7:18 PM | Report abuse

Fehr has so many good opportunities but he can NEVER finish!

Posted by: rachel216 | February 26, 2009 7:19 PM | Report abuse

Shot by Green trickled through and Laich was there to tap in the change.

Posted by: ludeman95 | February 26, 2009 7:20 PM | Report abuse

Okay, Day in the Life can wait!

Posted by: jmu_capsgirl | February 26, 2009 7:20 PM | Report abuse

That's cause Greener's bear is named Gary. Remember, "Gary the Bear?" LOL.

Posted by: rachel216 | February 26, 2009 7:20 PM | Report abuse

Got off work late, SWEET start get that PP rolling. Neuvirth should play in net every night if we're going to have starts like this every time. Glad to see Semin shooting too!

Posted by: Davethecapsfan | February 26, 2009 7:20 PM | Report abuse

wow...fast guy there, Stewart...wow

Posted by: wtf_e_fehr | February 26, 2009 7:21 PM | Report abuse

This penalty I can live with. Flash and Fehr with Stecks works...3 bigger guys (not so much Flash) that can play a puck possession game. I just wonder who will do the setting up and finishing heh.

Posted by: Davethecapsfan | February 26, 2009 7:22 PM | Report abuse

Damn, Juices third penalty

Posted by: ludeman95 | February 26, 2009 7:22 PM | Report abuse

rachel216, I remember the bear, but how does that have anything to do with Ovi? Does he somehow resemble a teddy bear that I'm not seeing?

Posted by: jmu_capsgirl | February 26, 2009 7:22 PM | Report abuse

Semin's pursuit and stick work make our PK so much better when he's playing disciplined.

Posted by: Davethecapsfan | February 26, 2009 7:23 PM | Report abuse

I can't find a stream anywhere. The NHL is really idiotic for doing this... I guess I'm "stuck" with Steve Kolbe and watching highlights. Go Caps!

Posted by: terpsgirl02 | February 26, 2009 7:24 PM | Report abuse

I remember when most on this board feared the return of Erskine, your truly included, he has fit in nicely. Best thing you can hear about a true defensive defenseman....NOTHING!!!

Posted by: jmu_capsgirl | February 26, 2009 7:28 PM | Report abuse

Erskine has focused on what he does well (physical play, simple D) to help cover for some of his drawbacks. He's earning his top 6 D spot at this point.

Posted by: Davethecapsfan | February 26, 2009 7:29 PM | Report abuse

rachel216, I guess he can call him whatever he wants. Just sort of odd when you combine it with "Ron" Semin. I was trying to think of some movie that it might reference, but I'm coming up with nothing.

Posted by: jmu_capsgirl | February 26, 2009 7:30 PM | Report abuse

Should be interference on Atlanta...can't pick Laich from going for the puck carrier.

Posted by: Davethecapsfan | February 26, 2009 7:31 PM | Report abuse

Damn, Juices third penalty

Posted by: ludeman95 | February 26, 2009 7:22 PM

Don't pay attention to that, I was watching a game from last March right before this one and Juice had 2 Pims back to back and I got mixed up, My bad, haha

Posted by: ludeman95 | February 26, 2009 7:32 PM | Report abuse

Neuvy is going to eat them alive if he has clear sightlines and is as square to the shooter as he has been so far.

Posted by: Davethecapsfan | February 26, 2009 7:32 PM | Report abuse

All, Gamecenter Live and Center Ice have this game, for those who are not in the DC/MD/VA area... yes I realize those alternatives aren't free, but someone's gotta pay these guys' salaries... :P For what it's worth, I've got season tickets and Center Ice (and NHL Network). Just can't get enough hockey.

Also, NHL.com has a "Realtime" thing that is really useful. Haven't looked at JMU's link, but it's probably similar.

Neuvy is hot hot hot

Posted by: rachel216 | February 26, 2009 7:33 PM | Report abuse

I love the sound of that thud that it makes when he makes a save..

Posted by: dmwechs1 | February 26, 2009 7:33 PM | Report abuse

Posted by: ERHDC1 | February 26, 2009 7:33 PM | Report abuse

And they just mentioned on the air that the game is also available in Philly on "The Comcast Channel" ... for any of you who are unlucky enough to be in/near Philly. ;)

Posted by: wtf_e_fehr | February 26, 2009 7:36 PM | Report abuse

mauree, very well. I haven't seen a juicy rebound from him yet. Actually, I may have fast forwarded to "live" from Laich's goal, but I haven't seen a rebound period.

wtf_e_fehr, I was trying to remember if anybody had come up with a catchy nickname for him yet.

Posted by: jmu_capsgirl | February 26, 2009 7:38 PM | Report abuse

Well that penalty is BS. It looked almost like it was done with intent on the replay

Posted by: ERHDC1 | February 26, 2009 7:39 PM | Report abuse

Nor should he be happy. He just got a penalty for being high-sticked, and then Atlanta scores on it. Way to go, you dumb refs.

Posted by: GregAnnapolis | February 26, 2009 7:39 PM | Report abuse

wooda ben nice to kill that one off for OV..flipside is..

HE IS PISSED!!!

Posted by: wtf_e_fehr | February 26, 2009 7:40 PM | Report abuse

Nice PP by the Thrashers. Too bad they didn't earn it. Our folks are giving the refs hell already.

Posted by: jmu_capsgirl | February 26, 2009 7:40 PM | Report abuse

It looked like he was trying a quick stick lift but def did'nt get any stick.

Posted by: ludeman95 | February 26, 2009 7:40 PM | Report abuse

Could the refs be any worse, they are so blind and stupid. The refs will get Fs for this game, stupid refs.

Also, Kovalchuk WIDE OPEN???!!

Posted by: rachel216 | February 26, 2009 7:41 PM | Report abuse

rough tough ov gets a stick that ref missed so he attacks the wrong guy...no discipline selfish penalty....will BB sit him? lol

Mauree: perfect pass to a wide open Kovalchuk, not mad at Neuvy for that, I blame that on the stupid refs.

It's time to "accidentally" hurt the refs.

OOOkkk

Posted by: ludeman95 | February 26, 2009 7:52 PM | Report abuse

Ovie isn't Crosby or Malkin. For all the supposed Ovechkin slant of late he still isn't going to get calls.

Posted by: Davethecapsfan | February 26, 2009 7:52 PM | Report abuse

So ludeman95, what's going on in Day in the Life since you said you'd be my eyes, lol. ;)

Posted by: rachel216 | February 26, 2009 7:53 PM | Report abuse

Atlanta should have been penalized for the hit on OV's face, obviously, the refs didn't see it. But OV let his frustration get the best out of him and he did commit a penalty, and Atlanta took advantage of it. It was a well play pp on their part.
That is all there is to it.

Lots about the Lambo, Talking about the house, controlling everything in his house from his Iphone, lights, tv's, AC.

Posted by: rachel216 | February 26, 2009 8:01 PM | Report abuse

rachel216, I can give you a rundown of what I saw.
On a game day:
8:30ish, he gets up and eats scrambled eggs and toast, since that's all he can cook. He gets in the Lambo and drives to Kettler. Practices, eats what looks suspiciously like baked ziti over rice with Ovi, Feds, Sasha and Kronwall then goes home. He leaves to go to VC in his suit (back in the Lambo). Plays soccer and goes for ill-fated cart rides with Ovi, then scores on the Panthers. I haven't watched the last "segment", but it honestly wasn't all that amazing.

Posted by: jmu_capsgirl | February 26, 2009 8:02 PM | Report abuse

Posted by: rachel216 | February 26, 2009 8:02 PM | Report abuse

Posted by: austinsteve | February 26, 2009 8:38 PM | Report abuse

austinsteve, I think we're all just relieved to not see Nylander. I tried really hard to cut him some slack, but I will be highly surprised to hear someone say "Man, we really miss Nyls in the lineup" ever.

Posted by: jmu_capsgirl | February 26, 2009 8:41 PM | Report abuse

Pronger is playing tonight against the Bruins. Down 4-0, he is -1 on the evening. For the season, he has 10 goals, 26 assists, and is even on plus minus. He is also 34 years old.

I really want him on our blue line, but I hope that GMGM does not get into a bidding war. He seems too disciplined for that.

Anybody else e-mail any Tarik camera ideas to Sombrero Guy?

I voted "we" splurge another measly $9 for a camera with dual stabilization, 18x optical zoom, and the ability to shoot 13.5 frames a second.

Haven't seen him around lately but looks like you need to get your money in yesterday if you're in

Posted by: austinsteve | February 26, 2009 8:45 PM | Report abuse

austinsteve: I didn't vote because I don't know anything about cameras pretty much.

Posted by: GregAnnapolis | February 26, 2009 8:47 PM | Report abuse

@jmu, nice to see you back, I thought all of our negativity after the Philly loss scared you and your better attitude away! :)

We need to be saying how wonderful Nylander is so we can trade him to some big market team he likes.

....

Yes, smart shoppers say other East teams will jack up the Pronger price even if they don't actually intend to win him

Posted by: austinsteve | February 26, 2009 8:48 PM | Report abuse

I don't think we should trade away key future pieces unless it's for someone we expect to be here for a couple of years. I don't want a rental only to lose in Eastern conference finals or SCF only to have given away some possible long term assets.

I know how important it is to make a run when you have the opportunity but this team has the ability right now to be a contender for the next 3-4 years at least. Smart acquisitions should be the rule of the day.

austinsteve, Eh, I'm here. I try to restrict my posting unless I feel I have something to contribute to the conversation. And since I missed most of the Philly game, I didn't want to comment.

wtf_e_fehr, Haha, its okay. I wasn't around then. I had to wiki it.

Posted by: jmu_capsgirl | February 26, 2009 9:10 PM | Report abuse

just got home to watch the game - can anyone explain why joe b keeps calling Koslov Slava? He doesn't normally do that, and plus Viktor usually goes by Vitya. Any reasons?

Posted by: abuddy2004 | February 26, 2009 9:10 PM | Report abuse

Time to ice it.

Posted by: Davethecapsfan | February 26, 2009 9:11 PM | Report abuse

Anaheim certainly doing us no favors in Boston. Colorado either. Rangers are trying. Buffalo, meh.

Posted by: jmu_capsgirl | February 26, 2009 9:12 PM | Report abuse

No way says Fedorov, if Feds says it's not, then it's not.

Posted by: wtf_e_fehr | February 26, 2009 9:13 PM | Report abuse

Wow Semin churning ice to get back, Green lays the wood and Neuvy puts the fire out.

Posted by: Davethecapsfan | February 26, 2009 9:13 PM | Report abuse

I think its actually Vyacheslav, but I've only heard him called Slava.

Posted by: jmu_capsgirl | February 26, 2009 9:14 PM | Report abuse

semin has been a little...different lately heh?

Posted by: wtf_e_fehr | February 26, 2009 9:14 PM | Report abuse

Anaheim SUCKS

Posted by: rachel216 | February 26, 2009 9:15 PM | Report abuse

Ooooh, I just saw Elliot on the Greenie big hit replay.

Posted by: ludeman95 | February 26, 2009 9:17 PM | Report abuse

I just took a good look at that pick CSN has of Noy.... he is 13 years old, no more.

Posted by: wtf_e_fehr | February 26, 2009 9:17 PM | Report abuse

wtf_e_fehr, He doesn't look a whole lot older in person. 15, maybe, with an advanced ability to grow facial hair.

Posted by: jmu_capsgirl | February 26, 2009 9:18 PM | Report abuse

Ok OVIE, WHATS WITH ALL THE XTRA PASSES!?!?!??!

Posted by: wtf_e_fehr | February 26, 2009 9:19 PM | Report abuse

Aww come on, he had some scruff walking into the building today, haha

Posted by: ludeman95 | February 26, 2009 9:20 PM | Report abuse

He can do scruff. I will be highly amused to see his playoff beard should he decide to grow one.

Posted by: jmu_capsgirl | February 26, 2009 9:23 PM | Report abuse

Let's score again!

Posted by: rachel216 | February 26, 2009 9:23 PM | Report abuse

Nice, I want one more PPG, just to remove all doubt.

Posted by: GregAnnapolis | February 26, 2009 9:23 PM | Report abuse

marty with the shutout in NJ.

Posted by: richmondphil | February 26, 2009 9:23 PM | Report abuse

Great game tonight, Neuvy solid again didn't have to work up too much of a sweat. Semin another strong game, Fehr continues his semi-breakout spurt. This PP pretty much seals it. Got a little cute a time or two but it did lead to a PP or 2 full of chances just lacking on the finish.

Posted by: Davethecapsfan | February 26, 2009 9:24 PM | Report abuse

@jmu_capsgirl

OK, fideen, I'll give him 15!! Thats it!!

Posted by: wtf_e_fehr | February 26, 2009 9:24 PM | Report abuse

Marty B with the shutout his first game back. Thomas working on one.

Posted by: jmu_capsgirl | February 26, 2009 9:25 PM | Report abuse

Posted by: jmu_capsgirl | February 26, 2009 9:28 PM | Report abuse

Fehr gets no minutes, lots of points per minute.

Posted by: Freez | February 26, 2009 9:28 PM | Report abuse

Okay, I wanted a PPG, not a SHG against. But now I'll settle for any sort of Caps goal, thankyouverymuch.

Posted by: GregAnnapolis | February 26, 2009 9:28 PM | Report abuse

I just threw up a lil bit in my mouth...

2 points, that's all that matters in the end.

Bs and Devils win, so no ground made, but none lost either.

Panthers pass the Rangers for...6th is it?

Posted by: austinsteve | February 26, 2009 9:35 PM | Report abuse

Brodeur gets the SO in his 1st game back.

Posted by: tmac2yao | February 26, 2009 9:36 PM | Report abuse

Three stars:
1. Semin
2. Green
3. Kovalchuk

Posted by: GregAnnapolis | February 26, 2009 9:36 PM | Report abuse

I love Neuvirth too. I didn't get mad at any goal he gave up, but I do with Jose, maybe it's cause he's too cute to be mad at.

Yay, Ovie top 5 goals!

I didnt know Duck was on the menu...Boston...wow

austinsteve: I'll be updating my chart as soon as this BUF-CAR shootout ends.

Posted by: GregAnnapolis | February 26, 2009 9:38 PM | Report abuse

So how long before the Rags actually start winning?

Posted by: jmu_capsgirl | February 26, 2009 9:39 PM | Report abuse

Greg, Will you post the link for that chart again?

Posted by: jmu_capsgirl | February 26, 2009 9:40 PM | Report abuse

austinsteve: Or a more direct answer to your question -- yes. Florida is in 6th. :)

Posted by: GregAnnapolis | February 26, 2009 9:40 PM | Report abuse

One of the better games played by Semin in a long time.

Good effort overall, but letting up on the PP almost cost them. This won't fly against the better teams.

Posted by: stormblue | February 26, 2009 9:41 PM | Report abuse

A coaching change in NY will do nothing, Rangers can't score, PERIOD.

Posted by: rachel216 | February 26, 2009 9:43 PM | Report abuse

jmu_capsgirl: Yes ma'am. ;)

I really hope to get win #40 in Boston, but I hate 1 pm games.

Posted by: rachel216 | February 26, 2009 9:44 PM | Report abuse

thanks GregAnnapolis!

They are tied in points but the Panthers lead the series 3-0 I believe

Posted by: austinsteve | February 26, 2009 9:46 PM | Report abuse

Thank you much!
I heart Neuvy. He's adorable in that little brother sort of way.

Posted by: jmu_capsgirl | February 26, 2009 9:46 PM | Report abuse

ugh I want to listen to Neuvy, he was still talking

Posted by: rachel216 | February 26, 2009 9:48 PM | Report abuse

I think Neuvy has Cindy beat in the facial hair dept.

Posted by: ludeman95 | February 26, 2009 9:50 PM | Report abuse

Neuvi looks soooo young!

Posted by: dmwechs1 | February 26, 2009 9:51 PM | Report abuse

ludeman95, Definitely. He's got him beat in pretty much every other dept too. Except the...ugh! Its not Sunday yet, I can't say it.

Posted by: jmu_capsgirl | February 26, 2009 9:51 PM | Report abuse

austinsteve: Florida leads NYR because of games in hand, not season series.

Posted by: GregAnnapolis | February 26, 2009 9:52 PM | Report abuse

Hey now JMU, I thought you gave that up? haha

Posted by: ludeman95 | February 26, 2009 9:54 PM | Report abuse

The first comment was not a bash on Crosby, it was a compliment to our boy, Neuvirth. And I stopped myself before I finished the second one.

Posted by: jmu_capsgirl | February 26, 2009 9:56 PM | Report abuse

jmu, if you keep that resolution the whole way through Lent, I swear you'll qualify for sainthood!

Posted by: tess2201 | February 26, 2009 9:56 PM | Report abuse

I assume that was Katie on camera asking Neuvirth questions in the lockerroom?

Posted by: stormblue | February 26, 2009 9:57 PM | Report abuse

1 down, 20 to go

Posted by: ludeman95 | February 26, 2009 9:57 PM | Report abuse

Just messing with you Jmu, lolz

Posted by: ludeman95 | February 26, 2009 9:58 PM | Report abuse

Sainthood or a Pens jersey. :-/

Posted by: jmu_capsgirl | February 26, 2009 10:01 PM | Report abuse

OMG NEUVY to start in Boston!

Posted by: rachel216 | February 26, 2009 10:01 PM | Report abuse

I just broke the news!

Posted by: rachel216 | February 26, 2009 10:02 PM | Report abuse

ludeman95, One of my really good friends keeps setting me up perfectly and I can't say anything. Its the worst.

Posted by: jmu_capsgirl | February 26, 2009 10:02 PM | Report abuse

Actually no I didn't, but anyway COME ON NEUVY, I know you can do it!

Posted by: rachel216 | February 26, 2009 10:03 PM | Report abuse

Now that's funny!

Posted by: ludeman95 | February 26, 2009 10:04 PM | Report abuse

rachel216, I was wrong. Greener ate lunch with Brash, Nick, Ovi, Feds & Kronwall. Semin wasn't at the table.

I can be okay with Neuvy starting in Boston. The guys seem to be good at protecting him and Varly (and Johnny to a degree). He'll be okay.

Posted by: jmu_capsgirl | February 26, 2009 10:05 PM | Report abuse

He also enjoys "hav[ing] a tub" with Ovi & Backs at his place and they have a few beers.

Posted by: jmu_capsgirl | February 26, 2009 10:08 PM | Report abuse

Yeah I don't think Theo will get b2b starts this weekend, we all know BB doesn't like doing that.

Posted by: ludeman95 | February 26, 2009 10:09 PM | Report abuse

I don't get Caps anything other than interview clips later. Nudeface vs the Bostonians? I like it, change things up a little.

Posted by: austinsteve | February 26, 2009 10:28 PM | Report abuse

Mike Green love on "On the Fly". They, too, suggest he's a candidate for the Lidstrom, er, Norris and brought up Coffey comparisons.

I would've guessed ShaMo started it. He looks like an internet shut-in in his pix there.

I checked it out for the articles
;)

Posted by: austinsteve | February 26, 2009 10:37 PM | Report abuse

austinsteve, lol! Greener did say at one point he wanted to start an internet dating site for Brooksy. Maybe he's behind it! Which would explain how he looks like Mr. Olympia in his pictures and everybody else looks a bit scrawnier.

Posted by: jmu_capsgirl | February 26, 2009 10:43 PM | Report abuse

Just got home and have not caught up on the posts yet, but wanted to ask ... was it just me or was that game kinda boring? Don't get me wrong - I am thrilled that we won, but that was the least exciting seven goal game that I have ever seen.

Posted by: --Boo-- | February 26, 2009 10:54 PM | Report abuse

Well I heard there were four games yesterday for a total of 10 goals so it couldn't have been that boring!

Posted by: austinsteve | February 26, 2009 11:00 PM | Report abuse

It was sort of uneventful really.

Posted by: jmu_capsgirl | February 26, 2009 11:00 PM | Report abuse

Green tied the franchise record for most goals by a D man

Posted by: austinsteve | February 26, 2009 11:15 PM | Report abuse

or broke, where is my fact checer GregAnnapolis? :)

He definitely has the D record for guys with fauxhawks

Posted by: austinsteve | February 26, 2009 11:16 PM | Report abuse

JMU:
You talking about the game when you say uneventful? That's kinda what I thought, despite all of the goals, PPs/PKs and the fight that wouldn't end. Oh well - a W is a W - I'll take it.

Posted by: --Boo-- | February 26, 2009 11:21 PM | Report abuse

I can't believe the Pens traded away Whitney -- he was very good in the playoffs last year and I think a guy that brought up through their system. That kinda loyalty will hurt the lockerroom -- like trading away a hometown hero, Malone.

With how good Boston, Philly, and New Jersey are looking, time for the Caps to get some veteran defensive help and a gritty winger for the garbage goals
