Apparently game won't be streamed tonight. In fact atdhe won't stream any game tonight, which worries me a little.
If you want to make a good deed to a Caps fan, be my eyes tonight :(

@Wemiss21
That's what scares me! We tend to look past these games, but I don't think we will tonight because of the game vs. Philly.
Also, I love your username, I miss that guy A LOT. :`(

Erskine has focused on what he does well (physical play, simple D) to help cover for some of his drawbacks. He's earning his top 6 D spot at this point.

All, Gamecenter Live and Center Ice have this game, for those who are not in the DC/MD/VA area... yes I realize those alternatives aren't free, but someone's gotta pay these guys' salaries... :P For what it's worth, I've got season tickets and Center Ice (and NHL Network). Just can't get enough hockey.
Also, NHL.com has a "Realtime" thing that is really useful. Haven't looked at JMU's link, but it's probably similar.

Atlanta should have been penalized for the hit on OV's face, obviously, the refs didn't see it. But OV let his frustration get the best out of him and he did commit a penalty, and Atlanta took advantage of it. It was a well play pp on their part.
That is all there is to it.

rachel216, I can give you a rundown of what I saw.
On a game day:
8:30ish, he gets up and eats scrambled eggs and toast, since that's all he can cook. He gets in the Lambo and drives to Kettler. Practices, eats what looks suspiciously like baked ziti over rice with Ovi, Feds, Sasha and Kronwall then goes home. He leaves to go to VC in his suit (back in the Lambo). Plays soccer and goes for ill-fated cart rides with Ovi, then scores on the Panthers. I haven't watched the last "segment", but it honestly wasn't all that amazing.

Pronger is playing tonight against the Bruins. Down 4-0, he is -1 on the evening. For the season, he has 10 goals, 26 assists, and is even on plus minus. He is also 34 years old.
I really want him on our blue line, but I hope that GMGM does not get into a bidding war. He seems too disciplined for that.

@jmu, nice to see you back, I thought all of our negativity after the Philly loss scared you and your better attitude away! :)
We need to be saying how wonderful Nylander is so we can trade him to some big market team he likes.
....
Yes, smart shoppers say other East teams will jack up the Pronger price even if they don't actually intend to win him
Posted by: austinsteve | February 26, 2009 8:48 PM | Report abuse
I don't think we should trade away key future pieces unless it's for someone we expect to be here for a couple of years. I don't want a rental only to lose in Eastern conference finals or SCF only to have given away some possible long term assets.
I know how important it is to make a run when you have the opportunity but this team has the ability right now to be a contender for the next 3-4 years at least. Smart acquisitions should be the rule of the day.

just got home to watch the game - can anyone explain why joe b keeps calling Koslov Slava? He doesn't normally do that, and plus Viktor usually goes by Vitya. Any reasons?
Posted by: abuddy2004 | February 26, 2009 9:10 PM | Report abuse
Time to ice it.
Posted by: Davethecapsfan | February 26, 2009 9:11 PM | Report abuse
Anaheim certainly doing us no favors in Boston. Colorado either. Rangers are trying. Buffalo, meh.

Posted by: Davethecapsfan | February 26, 2009 9:13 PM | Report abuse
I think its actually Vyacheslav, but I've only heard him called Slava.
Posted by: jmu_capsgirl | February 26, 2009 9:14 PM | Report abuse

Posted by: wtf_e_fehr | February 26, 2009 9:17 PM | Report abuse
wtf_e_fehr, He doesn't look a whole lot older in person. 15, maybe, with an advanced ability to grow facial hair.

Posted by: ludeman95 | February 26, 2009 9:20 PM | Report abuse
He can do scruff. I will be highly amused to see his playoff beard should he decide to grow one.
Posted by: jmu_capsgirl | February 26, 2009 9:23 PM | Report abuse
Let's score again!
Posted by: rachel216 | February 26, 2009 9:23 PM | Report abuse
Nice, I want one more PPG, just to remove all doubt.
Posted by: GregAnnapolis | February 26, 2009 9:23 PM | Report abuse
marty with the shutout in NJ.
Posted by: richmondphil | February 26, 2009 9:23 PM | Report abuse
Great game tonight, Neuvy solid again didn't have to work up too much of a sweat. Semin another strong game, Fehr continues his semi-breakout spurt. This PP pretty much seals it. Got a little cute a time or two but it did lead to a PP or 2 full of chances just lacking on the finish.
Posted by: Davethecapsfan | February 26, 2009 9:24 PM | Report abuse
@jmu_capsgirl
OK, fideen, I'll give him 15!! Thats it!!
Posted by: wtf_e_fehr | February 26, 2009 9:24 PM | Report abuse

Three stars:
1. Semin
2. Green
3. Kovalchuk
Posted by: GregAnnapolis | February 26, 2009 9:36 PM | Report abuse
I love Neuvirth too. I didn't get mad at any goal he gave up, but I do with Jose, maybe it's cause he's too cute to be mad at.
Yay, Ovie top 5 goals!

Posted by: jmu_capsgirl | February 26, 2009 9:39 PM | Report abuse
Greg, Will you post the link for that chart again?
Posted by: jmu_capsgirl | February 26, 2009 9:40 PM | Report abuse
austinsteve: Or a more direct answer to your question -- yes. Florida is in 6th. :)
Posted by: GregAnnapolis | February 26, 2009 9:40 PM | Report abuse
One of the better games played by Semin in a long time.
Good effort overall, but letting up on the PP almost cost them. This won't fly against the better teams.
Posted by: stormblue | February 26, 2009 9:41 PM | Report abuse
A coaching change in NY will do nothing, Rangers can't score, PERIOD.
Posted by: rachel216 | February 26, 2009 9:43 PM | Report abuse
jmu_capsgirl: Yes ma'am. ;)
Posted by: GregAnnapolis | February 26, 2009 9:43 PM | Report abuse
I really hope to get win #40 in Boston, but I hate 1 pm games.
Posted by: rachel216 | February 26, 2009 9:44 PM | Report abuse
thanks GregAnnapolis!
They are tied in points but the Panthers lead the series 3-0 I believe
Posted by: austinsteve | February 26, 2009 9:46 PM | Report abuse
Thank you much!
I heart Neuvy. He's adorable in that little brother sort of way.
Posted by: jmu_capsgirl | February 26, 2009 9:46 PM | Report abuse
ugh I want to listen to Neuvy, he was still talking
Posted by: rachel216 | February 26, 2009 9:48 PM | Report abuse
I think Neuvy has Cindy beat in the facial hair dept.
Posted by: ludeman95 | February 26, 2009 9:50 PM | Report abuse
Neuvi looks soooo young!
Posted by: dmwechs1 | February 26, 2009 9:51 PM | Report abuse
ludeman95, Definitely. He's got him beat in pretty much every other dept too. Except the...ugh! Its not Sunday yet, I can't say it.
Posted by: jmu_capsgirl | February 26, 2009 9:51 PM | Report abuse
austinsteve: Florida leads NYR because of games in hand, not season series.
Posted by: GregAnnapolis | February 26, 2009 9:52 PM | Report abuse
Hey now JMU, I thought you gave that up? haha
Posted by: ludeman95 | February 26, 2009 9:54 PM | Report abuse
The first comment was not a bash on Crosby, it was a compliment to our boy, Neuvirth. And I stopped myself before I finished the second one.
Posted by: jmu_capsgirl | February 26, 2009 9:56 PM | Report abuse
jmu, if you keep that resolution the whole way through Lent, I swear you'll qualify for sainthood!
Posted by: tess2201 | February 26, 2009 9:56 PM | Report abuse
I assume that was Katie on camera asking Neuvirth questions in the lockerroom?
Posted by: stormblue | February 26, 2009 9:57 PM | Report abuse
1 down, 20 to go
Posted by: ludeman95 | February 26, 2009 9:57 PM | Report abuse

ludeman95, One of my really good friends keeps setting me up perfectly and I can't say anything. Its the worst.
Posted by: jmu_capsgirl | February 26, 2009 10:02 PM | Report abuse
Actually no I didn't, but anyway COME ON NEUVY, I know you can do it!
Posted by: rachel216 | February 26, 2009 10:03 PM | Report abuse
Now that's funny!
Posted by: ludeman95 | February 26, 2009 10:04 PM | Report abuse
rachel216, I was wrong. Greener ate lunch with Brash, Nick, Ovi, Feds & Kronwall. Semin wasn't at the table.
I can be okay with Neuvy starting in Boston. The guys seem to be good at protecting him and Varly (and Johnny to a degree). He'll be okay.
Posted by: jmu_capsgirl | February 26, 2009 10:05 PM | Report abuse
He also enjoys "hav[ing] a tub" with Ovi & Backs at his place and they have a few beers.
Posted by: jmu_capsgirl | February 26, 2009 10:08 PM | Report abuse
Yeah I don't think Theo will get b2b starts this weekend, we all know BB doesn't like doing that.
Posted by: ludeman95 | February 26, 2009 10:09 PM | Report abuse
I don't get Caps anything other than interview clips later. Nudeface vs the Bostonians? I like it, change things up a little.
Posted by: austinsteve | February 26, 2009 10:28 PM | Report abuse
Mike Green love on "On the Fly". They, too, suggest he's a candidate for the Lidstrom, er, Norris and brought up Coffey comparisons.

austinsteve, lol! Greener did say at one point he wanted to start an internet dating site for Brooksy. Maybe he's behind it! Which would explain how he looks like Mr. Olympia in his pictures and everybody else looks a bit scrawnier.

Just got home and have not caught up on the posts yet, but wanted to ask ... was it just me or was that game kinda boring? Don't get me wrong - I am thrilled that we won, but that was the least exciting seven goal game that I have ever seen.
Posted by: --Boo-- | February 26, 2009 10:54 PM | Report abuse
Well I heard there were four games yesterday for a total of 10 goals so it couldn't have been that boring!
Posted by: austinsteve | February 26, 2009 11:00 PM | Report abuse
It was sort of uneventful really.
Posted by: jmu_capsgirl | February 26, 2009 11:00 PM | Report abuse
Green tied the franchise record for most goals by a D man
Posted by: austinsteve | February 26, 2009 11:15 PM | Report abuse
or broke, where is my fact checer GregAnnapolis? :)
He definitely has the D record for guys with fauxhawks
Posted by: austinsteve | February 26, 2009 11:16 PM | Report abuse
JMU:
You talking about the game when you say uneventful? That's kinda what I thought, despite all of the goals, PPs/PKs and the fight that wouldn't end. Oh well - a W is a W - I'll take it.
Posted by: --Boo-- | February 26, 2009 11:21 PM | Report abuse
I can't believe the Pens traded away Whitney -- he was very good in the playoffs last year and I think a guy that brought up through their system. That kinda loyalty will hurt the lockerroom -- like trading away a hometown hero, Malone.
With how good Boston, Philly, and New Jersey are looking, time for the Caps to get some veteran defensive help and a gritty winger for the garbage goals
