Tonight's lineup: Wild at Caps

Semyon Varlamov will make his second start in seven games tonight when the Caps host Wild. Backup Josh Harding, meantime, will get the nod for Minnesota.

David Steckel is back from tending to family matters and will play tonight, according to Coach Bruce Boudreau. That means Boyd Gordon won't suit up. Alex Ovechkin, Milan Jurcina and Jeff Schultz are also out.

The rest of the Caps' lineup should look like this:

Forwards
Fleischmann-Backstrom-Knuble
Laich-Morrison-Semin
Fehr-Perreault-Clark
Laing-Steckel-Bradley

Defense
Morrisonn-Green
Sloan-Poti
Erskine-Pothier

Goalies
Varlamov
Theodore

I'll have more after the game.

Gotta change and get to VC. C'mon Caps! Can't wait!

The Wild without Backstrom?

hm..

Posted by: richmondphil | November 13, 2009 5:36 PM | Report abuse

No Backstrom in net, and this Harding guy's got an 0-2 record, .761 Sv%, and 4.71 GAA.

Posted by: Sonyask | November 13, 2009 5:40 PM | Report abuse

FiOS subscribers in Howard and AA counties in Maryland (possibly Harford too) won't see the Caps games tonight or tomorrow because we don't get CSN+. It was taken from us. (We no longer get Channel 1)

If anyone has FiOS but doesn't get CSN+, the place to let Verizon know you want it is in the Verizon Community Forum (FiOS TV Programming section, "Suggest Channels to Add to FiOS TV" thread). Be sure to give your location.

Thanks

Backstrom not in net? Too good to be true. Watch Harding have the best game of his life and have it be the game that puts him on the map as a new star. Don't we have a knack for making mediocre goalies look great? Maybe this was the "old Caps" and they have turned the page.

Posted by: caraveli | November 13, 2009 6:02 PM | Report abuse

I give Perreault an 85% chance of scoring at least one point in the game.

Posted by: Bobomite | November 13, 2009 6:05 PM | Report abuse

I hope we see a little more of the 3rd line tonight.

Clark looks good recently, assists in 4 or 5 straight games. Perreault looking like a future 2nd line C, and Fehr is my boy, drawing penalties.

Linky linky for a fios customer?

Posted by: ludeman95 | November 13, 2009 6:20 PM | Report abuse

I'm thinking about switching to fios. I'm in fairfax county. Is CSn+ available on fios in fairfax co.?

Posted by: dcsportsfan1 | November 13, 2009 6:24 PM | Report abuse

I would so love it if Clark & Perrault scored tonight or at least had assists. I would also love it if Varly had a great night and, of course, if we won. Just four little wishes, that's all.

Posted by: caraveli | November 13, 2009 6:26 PM | Report abuse

Not sure, I know Anne Arundle doesn't have it and it's really starting to get on my nerves.

Posted by: ludeman95 | November 13, 2009 6:27 PM | Report abuse

I would hate it and be uncontrollably angry if:

--we played passively without energy and coordination and let tons of goals in
--if we had a lead but could not hold on to it
--if we get penalties at a critical moments that cost us the game

--If Semin turns the puck over to the Wild and they score
--If the Wild incapacitate Semin or another good player for a week or two

Is anybody making a list of my requests and passing it to God?

Posted by: caraveli | November 13, 2009 6:30 PM | Report abuse

@dcsports

Here's the link for finding out if Csn is available in your area. Just type in your zip.

whoops, forgot something, haha.

Posted by: ludeman95 | November 13, 2009 6:36 PM | Report abuse

I am going to make a request for Verizon to add CSN+ in Howard County. Hopefully enough people will do it that they get the message.
Yahoo Sports is broadcasting both the games this weekend, so all is not lost for those of us without CSN+

Ludeman, thanks looks like I'm good to go. Sorry aa county doesn't get it. Pretty rediculous.

It's on Yahoo too. Better since atdhe.net literally steals the streams from their originator and strips the ads. If you want people to keep streaming, use their sites so they get the ad revenue and want to continue.

So I'm eating my boneless ribeye and rocking the red with Clos du Bois 2005 shiraz and I'm watching one of the cats, Malachi, an orange tabby, and I say,

"He's the wrong color."
My wife: "What?"
"Look at him. He's orange. That's 'flyer' color. We need to dye him red."
Wife: "You can't do that." So, with three of us watching the game, she appeals to our daughter. "Theresa?"
Theresa: "Sure, dye him red. He won't care."

Does anyone know where to buy dye for cats?

Posted by: tominfl1 | November 13, 2009 7:50 PM | Report abuse

That cross-check they called on Backstrom may have been the softest one in league history.

Posted by: tmac2yao | November 13, 2009 7:54 PM | Report abuse

Posted by: Chad8 | November 13, 2009 7:56 PM | Report abuse

@tmac, I couldn't agree more. That was weak! Yeah, techincally it was a cross-check, but Nicky leaned on him more than hit him.

Great job on the PK so far!

Huh?

Posted by: Chad8 | November 13, 2009 8:21 PM | Report abuse

This may get me beat up in this board, but I understand why Terps basketball would bump the Caps to CSN+. The Terps are more popular around here and the Caps don't seem to really market to the AA county and Baltimore area. That being said, I'm one of those AA county Fios customers without the game and couldn't give a .... About the Terps.

Sadly hockey isn't as popular as it should be. Maybe if the bring back the Skipjacks.

What's the update on Knuble?

Posted by: bukaki23 | November 13, 2009 8:31 PM | Report abuse

Whoops there's the update. Knuble MAY return. Which is Capitalese for will not return

Posted by: bukaki23 | November 13, 2009 8:35 PM | Report abuse

A tight defensive battle tonight. Hoping Knuble is ok. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH @bukaki23 - my thoughts exactly on that interpretation.

Posted by: Jonathan6 | November 13, 2009 8:41 PM | Report abuse

I don't think Knuble is hurt, not like Ovie was hurt. Maybe broken nose. It's just a matter if he can get over the pain.

I remember Pivonka once had 7 teeth knocked out by #12 on Rangers (can't recall name) in the 1st and came back in the 3rd.

Pivo was a good player. Never got enough love.

Fleischmann reminds me of half Bondra/half Pivo. What speed on that set-up for Green! You can teach lots of things but you can't teach God-given ability.

BTW the bottle of shiraz is empty so I have another open. Must keep rocking the red!

Upper 70s tomorrow so I will be at beach all day and also on Sunday. I will drink beer tomorrow - that counts for rocking the white vs Devils. Beer drinking will start 8 am at New Smyrna Beach, FL and continue until Caps exorcise the Devils.

Sometimes you have to take one (or a dozen) for the team.
