Tonight's lineup: Devils at Caps

Michal Neuvirth will make his third straight start for the Caps tonight at Verizon Center. Martin Brodeur, meantime, will get the nod for the red-hot Devils.

Defenseman Tom Poti is scratched with an undisclosed injury, which means Coach Bruce Boudreau has to shuffle his 'D' pairings. The forward combos, though, are the same as Wednesday's.

Forwards
Ovechkin-Backstrom-Semin
Fleischmann-Morrison-Knuble
Clark-Laich-Fehr
Laing-Steckel-Bradley

Defense
Morrisonn-Green
Schultz-Jurcina
Erskine-Alzner

Goalies
Neuvirth
Theodore

Check back after the game for some leftover notes and quotes.

Where is Laich... I can't believe he'd ever be a healthy scratch...

Posted by: JSchon | December 26, 2009 6:42 PM | Report abuse

Laich at center stands out to me.

Jschon,

Stop drinking and look again at line 3....

JSchon

I keep forgetting BB moved Laich to center!

Posted by: capscoach | December 26, 2009 6:48 PM | Report abuse

They should keep playing Laich at center and see if he can stay there.

In their match up against the Pens, the third line center is where the Caps get absolutely get killed.

Granted, Pens third line kills just about any team's line though.

Questions:

Was Anton Gustafsson eligible for the IIHF World Juniors?

He's 19 so I assume he was eligible and simply not picked for the team.

Does anybody know if Flash can play C?

Posted by: JSchon | December 26, 2009 7:05 PM | Report abuse

If Nuevy gets this victory, it should do wonders for his confidence and the organizations confidence in him.

I want to see numbers from the 2nd and 3rd lines. Goals from Fehr, Laich and Knuble.

GO CAPS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Flash can, and I think he should be given a try.

Flash moving to C next season solves alot of problems.

What's up with having Neuvy against Brodeur? Why not Varly? It is a gutsy move from BB thoough. Certainly a great learning experience for the kid.

Posted by: caraveli | December 26, 2009 7:14 PM | Report abuse

Devils are definitely bringin it

Posted by: wtf_e_fehr | December 26, 2009 7:15 PM | Report abuse

Avery just told Roloson to "stay in his f'n net."

lol

Posted by: richmondphil | December 26, 2009 7:44 PM | Report abuse

I thought Varly was healed by now. At any rate, if Neuvy wins, it will be the greatest confidence booster he could get. Win or lose he'll get tremendous experience.

First period was pretty good. If we do not slack off in the next two, we may have a win. I forget. Is it good if we score early on Brodeur?

Posted by: caraveli | December 26, 2009 7:53 PM | Report abuse

good look by Locker...skilled guys on a break...who goes to the net?
