Wow. HO BOY. Hope he doesn't get a case of nerves!
LET'S GO CAPS! Best of luck to Varlamov, and here's pulling for him! We know he can do it.

Maybe since he's from Russia he won't be quite as nervous. Any kid from Canada making first start in Montreal on Hockey Night in Canada would be as jumbled as Alzner confessed he was in his first few games.

Definitely wish Varlomov the best of luck. Hopefully just giving BJ the night off and he's not injured. BJ made the big stops when we need him to again. Too bad he is playing through a hip issue because he is playing his best hockey in years. Venture to say he'd be getting the night off regardless of who the back-up is, 3 games in 4 nights...need 2 goalies to contribute. This injury in Theodore is certainly a mystery. Nonetheless a lot of us are happy to see Varlomov get a taste. Should be a good one because I am sure that Bruce has told the team that there are no more excuses for losing on the road because the core of the team is back, a little rusty, but back. I wish I could get into the time machine that friggin geek in the dating game mentioned at the game. Can you believe that guy? She should have just gone out to the movies with Michelle (the # C girl) rather than choosing "# C."

Oops, mentioned the time machine because I'd rather take that to 7pm and get the game started. Instead the afternoon's going to drag while I put up a Christmas tree and string up lights.

We're going to see what the Caps D is really made of: will they be cranky and physical around Varlamov's crease, and channel their inner Laing to elevate him? Or will they be Schultz-polite, and let the speedy Habs pepper the kid until he demands to trade jobs with Leonhardt?
Maybe there's something about the Montreal ice that helps infant goalies do that Phenom thing...
RIGHT ON, RED!!

I hope this doesn't mean that Stretch is hurt.

I'm excited, at the same time worried. I'm sure Varlamov is nervous as crap, right now.

Here's the trivia: I saw the picture at CNNSI of Leonhardt during warm-ups - I didn't get to the Booth in time - and he's sporting a mask with an "N". I guess I could do the research but two thing: Is that his mask? What's the N for?
That was so great last night.

I'm still hung over from the game... too much celebration. the green hulk cartoon cracked me up.
fedorov looked very happy. great to see. my boy Sloan looked to be napping onthe ottowa goal. Still, what this has done in a month is great!

Neumann College, where Stretch played as goalie.

@fanohock1
Ugh, I feel for ya. I have to finish my Final this afternoon, so I can't even think about hockey until then.

Also, I'm disappointed - Stretch has yet to show in the NHL jersey shop as a customization option, even though all of our call-ups are there.
The Stretch Fan Club demands #80 jerseys!

Yeah - just wait until the man's healthy!!! Wow, he's got the hands this season. :)

The little evil plan I mentioned a few days ago is working. Theo is hurt. Varlamov is up and starting. Oh no. Muahahahaha!

BTW, I'm sure Varly is nervous, but it's not like he hasn't been in pressure situations before. He played in the Russian version of the Stanley Cup final last year. And played very well.
