Zubrus Still Here
As of 12:10 p.m., trade candidate Dainius Zubrus is still a member of the Washington Capitals. Or so I think. I just saw him near the locker room talking on his cell phone, but he ducked into a room that's off limits to the media. Hopefully, I'll catch him before he leaves.
Jamie Heward, another player who could be headed out before today's 3 p.m. trade deadline, is also still here. Just talked to him and he hasn't heard anything.
Stay tuned.

What is the likelihood that Zubrus would not be signed at this point? Doesn't seem as if GMGM would enough time to shop him if he doesn't already have a deal in place.

if they get close enough, they might decide not to deal him, even if they don't have him signed by 3.

Look at the deals being made! Guerin is a Shark, Laraque is crybaby's bodyguard now...

we NEEEEEED him. anyoneone that thinks otherwise is FOOLISH. I already doubt the likelyhood gmgm will be able to bring in a #1 center, you think if we lose zubrus he is going to sign TWO free agent top six forwards that we need, and a #1 defenseman. Fat chance. Keep zubrus, because you will be paying more for the exact same type of player come july 1.

No mention that both of these guys were at the Gardens Ice House last night for a Caps function and high school hockey championships (great games too!). It was strange though how nobody seemed to bring the trade up with them there.

I highly doubt Eminger is being moved at deadline. If anything it would be in offseason or during 07-08. He's likely riding pine until other D are moved or sent to Hershey. He's been behind the curve but I do not think his time is done.
Zubrus should stick as a RW for top line next season and paired with a FA center. Datsyuk or Briere for example. Semin Backstrom Fehr on line 2.

thefourthperiod.com did report that Zubrus didn't skate.
I don't think that is necessarily an indicator of anything.
Well, it's an indicator that they are talking to people, but not that he has or will be traded. Nothing we didn't already know.
