CommuteCast: Mostly Clear and Cooler

By Ian Livingston

Partly cloudy Friday, continued mild

Cooler temperatures moved into the area overnight and have stayed rather steady throughout the day on gusty northwest winds that have brought a chill back to the air. Daytime highs in the upper 40s and low 50s will begin to drop this evening as the sun goes down. During the drive home, skies will be mostly clear and winds will continue to diminish.

Tonight: Tonight will begin mostly clear but some clouds will roll through overnight and keep temperatures from plummeting. Lows are expected to be around 30 degrees in the northwest suburbs while falling to the mid 30s in DC and to the southeast.

Tomorrow: Friday will be partly sunny with much less wind than today. Highs will reach the upper 40s to right around 50 just about everywhere. Clouds may begin to increase late in the day as the next weather system moves towards the region for the beginning of the weekend.

See Josh's forecast through the weekend and into next week.

FIRST!

There seems to be some uncertainty regarding the model guidance for midweek next week. Evidently the main chance for rain appears to be on Primary Day Tuesday.

Not much glamour in being "first" when the post rarely go over 20 any more.

Actually.......total comments are now 24 for the day with my comment....25 if I decide to tic you off....with the weather we have been getting....this would be a stellar comment day on the old site...I mean come on...what are people supposed to say...."OMG I saw a cloud today and the temp reached 59 a minute after midnight!"

Anyone look at the 18z GFS for 2/13...Looks pretty interesting on latest run for some decent snow.

26th......ok, here's a question.....ppl will obviusly read this....so answer here..so, here it is:
Should A certain poster go by:
1- "El Bombo"
OR
2- Old school "John Andre (El Bombo) moniker?
Vote now!

Hope I didn't ruin Ian's post, but the weather is boring today, and John loves to be kidded!!
Ok, well, while I'm at it.....is it I N or is it pronounced Eeen or EN? ;)

Mike: Thanks as always for your good-natured participation and support of the site! I vote for simply "Bombo" :)

I think that what people are saying is that you made a big mistake when you linked with the Post. People knew where to find you, you had a bigger following, and there were more features like continuing threads that are now ridiculous because they change so often.

I once again agree. This site is much less fun than the old one.

Well, complaints certainly aren't fun. Boring weather isn't 'fun', but...it's better than what the southeast had yesterday.

For the record: I love capwx, no matter what.

So much for the hype on next week. Models trended way warm on latest run...It's actually hard to believe how models showed us being near freezing last run, now trending to around 50 degreees when the "rain" moves in on 2/13. Boooo GFS...maybe its flawed on latest run.......:(
