Kim Martucci's On-Air Surprise
Channel 9's (WUSA) meteorologists are no strangers to on-air drama. Just six weeks ago, Howard Bernstein busted his face doing a live shot. Last Friday, Kim Martucci was red in the face under much more joyful circumstances: At the conclusion of the 9 a.m. newscast, her boyfriend Ben proposed to marry her.
You can watch the video of the proposal - ranked currently as "most popular" on WUSA's Web site. Also, check out Kim's blog where she gives the play by play of everything that happened that special day and her emotions throughout. This excerpt from the blog sums it up:
My true love proposed to me today. I said yes. I got to share that special moment with a lot of special people. My family (all located in other states), through the magic of technology, all got to share in the joy that same day.
The Capital Weather Gang congratulates Kim on her engagement. We would offer to do a "My Weather" custom forecast for Kim and Ben's big day, but somehow we figure she's got that covered...
Do you have a big event coming up in your life or that you're planning for which you need to know the most likely weather scenario and the range of possibilities? The event could be a wedding, reunion, Bar Mitzvah, golf outing, company picnic, etc. Email us and we'll consider doing a custom weather assessment for you and your event right here on the Capital Weather Gang blog!
In your email, indicate why the weather plays a major role in your event, talk about the event's significance, and if possible, include a photo or two. Indicate whether you're looking for a general outlook which gives the range of possible weather outcomes well in advance (weeks/months) or a detailed forecast right before (within three to five days of) your event. The earlier you submit your request, the better.

Interesting story.
Meanwhile, "El Bombo" carries on a tradition of forty-plus years as "rejected suitor". It seems that all the women I've shown an interest in over my tenure here in the Washington area have passed me over in favor of someone else. (However it seems that all of these marriages I've been able to follow up have since ended in divorce. The last such marriage that I've been able to trace as lasting until today occurred way back in April, 1972, before I even moved to Washington. Perhaps a state of enforced confirmed bachelorhood isn't so bad after all; it does give me the chance to meet women at all the dances I go to!)
