Forecast: Simply Sublime Through Saturday

By Josh Larson

Forecast confidence drops starting Sunday

With high pressure in control, expect lots of sunshine and mild temperatures -- about 10 degrees above normal -- to continue today through most of Saturday. Thereafter, however, the sun and warmth may be in jeopardy, as some models suggest an area of low pressure in the upper atmosphere may sock us in with clouds and drizzle for Sunday into early next week. Confidence in this part of the forecast, though, is low.

Sunny and mild. Mid 70s. You'll wake to brilliant blue skies and temperatures ranging from the low to mid 40s in the suburbs to the upper 40s to near 50 downtown. Abundant sunshine will allow temperatures to climb to afternoon highs the mid 70s.

Tonight, clear skies with milder overnight lows from the upper 40s in the suburbs to the low to mid 50s downtown.

Confidence: High

Sunny and warm. Near 80. Plan on continued sunny skies with even warmer temperatures nearing the 80-degree mark in many spots -- that's nearly 15 degrees above normal -- and a light breeze (5-10 mph) out of the west or northwest. The temptation to leave work early will be high!

If you're going out Friday night, you can expect clear skies and temperatures dropping from the 70s into the 60s in the evening, eventually bottoming out in the 50s overnight.

Confidence: High

Sunny and mild weather should continue into Saturday, with highs in the mid 70s. Some clouds may move in toward evening, bringing a chance of a shower overnight with lows in the 50s. Confidence: Medium-High

An upper-level area of low pressure may approach from the west on Sunday, and if it does we could be looking at overcast skies, periods of drizzle or showers, and highs in the 60s. But there's also a chance the upper-level low will stay far enough to our northwest to allow for sunnier and drier weather, which could mean highs in the 70s. Confidence: Low

The forecast for Monday depends entirely on the movement of the potential upper-level low to our west. For now, plan on partly to mostly cloudy skies with a 50/50 shot of rain or drizzle and highs in the 60s to near 70. Confidence: Low
