BeachCast: Sunny; Cool but Gradually Warmer
Quite cold in the water
As Memorial Day weekends go, this will likely go down as a pretty good one at the beach. Sure, it'd be nice if we could add about 10 degrees to the forecast daytime highs. But solid sun and no rain isn't always easy to come by this time of year. So let's enjoy it for what its worth. Here's how we see things shaping up at the Maryland and Delaware beaches...

Graphic courtesy Google.
The Sky: We're looking at mostly sunny skies right through Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Some clouds may try to enter the mix on Monday, but even then I would only downgrade to partly to mostly sunny.
The Air: Alas, temperatures will leave a bit to be desired, at least until the end of the weekend. Highs will likely only make the upper 60s Friday and Saturday, and near 70 Sunday. Monday should be the warmest day of the bunch, with highs in the mid to upper 70s.
The Water: It's not polar bear cold. But upper 50s to near 60 ain't exactly bath water temperatures.
The Surf: I'll admit, I know nada about surfing. But these people seem to know what they're talking about.
Your Skin: It may not be midsummer heat, but the sun is already in midsummer form. The UV Index will probably be in the Very High range. So bring sunscreen, sunglasses and the like.
The weather should be similarly sunny and dry further north in Cape May, N.J. To the south, Virginia Beach and especially the Outer Banks may have to deal with some clouds later today and showers early Saturday, but should be mostly sunny and dry the rest of the weekend.

I like this! Will you do a Beach Cast for every week in the summer? (Sorry if this is a stupid question, I'm not sure whether or not the Beach Cast was on the old website.)

Too cold for swimming? Ha. I've swum in MAINE waters. So there! But, admittedly, not in May. It's great exercise, you burn extra calories just trying to keep your rapidly-numbing limbs moving. Sam, I took a guess at what you might've heard in the other blog entry.

Second the hope that this is a weekly feature!
Thanks for the surf report link. I'm learning and 43) so it's nice to know.
Was in the water in OC last week. Wearing a full wetsuit, and booties, and light gloves.
