Forecast: Weather on Right Track for Big Weekend
Pleasant & dry Thursday through Memorial Day
We'll see more sunshine and milder temperatures today, though a stray shower during the second half of the day can't be ruled out. On Thursday, a sprawling area of high pressure begins to build into the region, lasting through the entire holiday weekend. This will foster dry weather, comfortable humidity, and eventually a nice warming trend.
Some sun; stray shower? Near 70. It won't be nearly as dreary or cool as yesterday. But clouds will still be part of the mix, along with periods of sunshine, as afternoon highs near 70 with winds from the west increasing to 10-15 mph by late morning. A stray shower is possible during the afternoon or evening hours.
Tonight, mostly cloudy and kinda chilly, with temperatures ranging from the mid 40s in places like Reston and Damascus to near 50 downtown.

TOMORROW
Partly sunny & windy. Near 70. As high pressure builds into the region on Thursday, we can expect a blend of clouds and sun along with a noticeable wind from the west, perhaps gusting as high as 25 mph during the afternoon. Highs will once again be near 70. Overnight, diminishing winds with cool overnight lows from the low 40s across the coolest suburbs to the upper 40s downtown.
On Friday you can look forward to abundant sunshine with high temperatures, for the third day in a row, within a couple degrees of 70. It will be clear and not quite as cool Friday night with lows from the upper 40s in the cooler spots to the low 50s downtown. Confidence: Medium-High
Memorial Day Weekend is shaping up to offer very nice weather indeed. We'll experience mostly sunny skies Saturday through Monday with high temperatures in the mid to upper 70s on Saturday and Sunday, possibly warming to the low 80s on Monday. Confidence: Medium-High

All right, Josh, you've convinced me...guess I need to take Friday off! :-) Any chance the winds from today and tomorrow will stick around, even a little bit?
