Alert: Severe Thunderstorm Watch Until 9 P.M.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch has been issued for the metro area, in effect until 9 p.m. The Storm Prediction Center says:

HAIL TO 2.5 INCHES IN DIAMETER...THUNDERSTORM WIND GUSTS TO 80 MPH...AND DANGEROUS LIGHTNING ARE POSSIBLE IN THESE AREAS.

At early afternoon, light showers were passing through parts of the metro area, but no severe weather as of yet. The most likely timeframe for strong to severe storms is late afternoon into early evening.

Anyway, it looks like I won't be able to get to the gym tonight, unless I stop by right after work. The chances of me getting electrocuted while using a cardio machine are slim, right?

Um, so yeah, what's the deal with the severe thunderstorms this year? To date, I have had two large oak trees fall on or near my house, taking out one of my cars and two neighboring houses. What fun and games awaits us tonight? Oh, but on a fun twist to the typical Washington pre-storm panic, maybe the stores will have a run on pint-sized boxes of milk, since I haven't been able to make a half gallon survive five days without spoiling so far this June...
