Forecast: That Summer Feel & Sound (Thunder!)
It will be hot and stormy over the next few days. Strong to severe storms are possible Saturday and Sunday along with heat indices around 100 Saturday. Notice how we are approaching mid-summer and mid 90s don't seem to stir up media attention? It will be hot but I bet fewer people are "buzzing" about it around town... Do you agree that the much dreaded "Dog Days of Summer" may be here?
Mostly sunny. Mid 90s. With only a slight 20% chance of afternoon thunderstorms, it may not be worth taking the umbrella to work. Overall today will be bright. And sure a few of you may still be working on that lunch-hour tan. So go enjoy your (small, controlled!) dose of Vitamin D. Southwesterly winds will be breezy at times, pumping in that muggy feeling. Yeah, oh, casually I can mention...It will be a tad hot.
Skies will be kinda cloudy overnight. If we have some thunderstorm activity near us, cloud debris will stick around. Low temperatures will hover near 70 for spots like Reston and Woodbridge. Downtown? You will bottom out at room temperature, around 72 degrees.
Keep reading to see how strong might these storms be this weekend...? Check out NatCast if you're headed to Nationals Park tonight.
Partly cloudy. P.M. Storms. Mid 90s. There's a higher chance (50%) of afternoon thunderstorms tomorrow. And a few of these could pack a wallop. It will depend on how much sun actually shines through the clouds and begins stirring up the atmosphere. HEAT INDEX could be high, above 100, too. Drink plenty of water. Even minus the mugginess, temperatures will rise into the mid 90s.
Showers and storms could continue Saturday evening, diminishing before midnight. Low temperatures may not get below the middle 70s in several spots, especially if you weren't lucky enough to get some cooling rain. Rain chances are still at 50%, and clouds will stick around like last night. Mehh, not the best evening.
Humid. Good chance of storms. Near 90. With a 60% chance of rain on Sunday and mostly cloudy skies, I hope you can watch radar and dodge some of the heavier showers and storms -- most likely in the late afternoon and evening. We shouldn't have a washout though and there should be some windows for outdoor activities. Check in later this weekend to see if/how severe these storms may get though. While it won't be as hot, you will notice the continued humidity.
Mostly cloudy overnight with lows barely ducking below the 70-degree mark. Showers & storms may still affect the area through mid evening, with mostly cloudy skies thereafter.
A LOOK AHEAD
Partly sunny conditions on Monday with average warmth. Expect high temperatures in the mid 80s and a small chance of afternoon showers or thunderstorms (30%). Confidence: Medium
On Tuesday, we can hopefully escape dry -- without thundershowers. At least that's how it appears now. Temperatures will reach the middle 80s with noticeably lower humidity. Confidence: Medium
