Forecast: Dank & Damp Giving Way to Delightful

By Camden Walker

WeatherCamPartly to mostly cloudy skies along with a chance of showers and storms will pester us through Saturday night. A pesky easterly flow keeping it dismal at times today into tomorrow morning. But fortunes change on Sunday. We turn back on the sunshine, warmer temperatures and lower humidity. Here's to a great second half of Labor Day Weekend!

Mostly cloudy. Morning light rain. P.M. shower? Upper 70s. The day will be mostly cloudy with two stages of potential moistness. Drizzle and light rain in the morning, then showers threaten (30% chance) in the afternoon. Winds from the east will sock us in with clouds, making it difficult but not impossible for some sun to break through during the afternoon. Sorry -- that is our rather gloomy forecast.

A chance of a shower here or there (20% chance) will still dot the region after dinner. Lows will not dip far -- only into the upper 60s. They'll be uniform throughout our area thanks to overcast skies and a steady southeast breeze.

Confidence: Medium-High

When do skies clear out? Keep reading for the forecast through the holiday weekend and beyond. Also, see NatCast for tonight's game at Nationals Park, and BeachCast if you're off to the shore.

Partly sunny. Low-to-mid 80s. Alright, so, today should be easier to handle than Friday. Less chance of that pesky drizzle, and even some sun mixed in with the clouds. But the afternoon does bring a chance of showers & thunderstorms. It may only be a 30% chance, but I'd still take an umbrella if you'll be out and about. It will be a tad warmer, with highs in the low-to-mid 80s, and a touch more humid, too.

Continued mostly cloudy Saturday night along with a 30% chance of showers, maybe a thunderstorm. Finally, though, things begin to change after midnight. Winds come from the north and start drying us out, as lows drop to the upper 60s.

Mostly sunny. Mid 80s. Sunshine and lower humidity promises a great start to the homestretch of our holiday weekend. Warm temperatures -- highs in the mid 80s -- with light breezes make me want to go throw a frisbee around!

Mostly clear Sunday night with slightly cooler low temperatures -- middle 60s. If you're lucky enough to be out near Skyline Drive and winds go calm, you may hit the upper 50s. A nice way to begin September (at midnight).

Labor Day looks simply wonderful. Sunny. Warm. High temperatures in the upper 80s. And light breezes. BBQ while you still can! Confidence: Medium-High

On Tuesday, we have not Labor Day, but "Ground Hog Day"? i.e., a repeat of Monday's gorgeous weather. Sunny with humidity still in check and highs in the upper 80s to near 90. Ka-ching! Confidence: Medium

Let's hear rainfall totals from everybody! This rain is badly needed.

It rained heavily this morning here in Lake Ridge for about half hour if not more - consistent downpour. Rainfall totals so far easily hit the 1 inch mark. At 9:26 am, looking at NEXRAD, another heavy batch is approaching the Lake Ridge area from the South.

Interesting to see that the post made the frontpage of Googlenews. Apparently the Washington weather is a top entertainment section story.

Peruser: HAHAHHAAHAHA, oh man that's funny. I guess people find dark and gloomy weather in DC better than Lindsay Lohan's rumored relationships and some guy who can't control himself?

The Capital Weather Gang has been striking it big on "The Google" the last few days, wow. I wonder how many new readers it has now because of this?

It's been raining steadily here in eastern Loudoun all morning, as far as I can tell. I'm glad to be the rain target for once.

Rain continues downtown--it got heavy and a little annoyingly so. My umbrella didn't help much with the combined slight breeze :-)
Very neat about Google. Is that from RSS feeds you all have selected? Or was that nationwide???!
