Forecast: Refreshing Weekend Air; Stray T'storm?

By Camden Walker

WeatherCamMostly good things ahead for us going into the weekend. Other than the chance of an isolated shower or thunderstorm late today and late Sunday, today through Monday will be pleasantly warm, partly to mostly sunny, and without a hint of August humidity to speak of! Enjoy the "August anomaly" while it lasts.

Mostly sunny. Mid 80s. A rather splendid day is in store with a lot of sun. High temperatures will be around average and feel pretty darn good -- mid 80s, with very low humidity. Clouds may increase just a bit during the afternoon. And it's not out of the question a shower or thunderstorm could pop up somewhere, but chances are only 20% or less. The northwest winds ushering in our pleasant air could gust to near 20 mph at times.

A slight chance of a shower around dinner time should be followed by mostly clear skies overnight. And wow will it get "crisp" for August -- outside the Beltway it could drop to the mid-to-upper 50s, especially if winds go calm. Even downtown will dip into the mid 60s.

Keep reading to find out if the awesome air lasts the weekend. Also, see SkinsCast for the forecast for Saturday's Redskins preseason home opener, and our Virgin Mobile Festival forecast.

Mostly sunny. Low-to-mid 80s. Light winds from the northwest continue to lock in our low humidity, which will be joined by sunshine and highs in the low-to-mid 80s. What is it that I could be forgetting on such a lovely day? Ah yes, my sunscreen. Lather on that 30+ because there will be few clouds standing between you and those UV rays.

Continued mostly clear, dry and refreshing into the evening and overnight hours. Lows near 60 for those of you outside of the D.C. heat island. Downtown will fall to the mid 60s.

Partly to mostly sunny. Mid 80s. P.M. shower/storm? The humidity stays low again, but this time more clouds may mix with the sun. A little cold front coming through could spawn a few showers or thunderstorms during the midday through evening. As of now, odds are about 20-30% that you'd see one of these. For the most part, it should be a highly enjoyable day.

Fair skies & calm conditions overnight. Lows should be in the mid 60s downtown, and as cool as the the upper 50s in places like St Mary's County or Frederick.

Monday should be rain-free with sunny skies and temperatures in the mid 80s to near 90. But still not much in the way of humidity to report. Suddenly sunshine and low humidity are mundane! Confidence: Medium

On Tuesday, humidity is likely to be higher. As of now, shower/storm chances start moving back into the picture (25%). Highs likely in the mid 80s. Confidence: Low-Medium

This morning is the first morning in a long while that Logan Circle is below 70 degrees! Anyone else walk to work, like me, and think they'll enjoy it? :)

65 miles was just a tad too much for me to walk this morning Camden, thought about it though, lol!

This morning reminded me of Seattle in August. This just shows you its all about the humidity. I'm seriously thinking about moving out West where there is never any humidity issues.

"Bombocast" is still being affected by Comcast Internet issues...

Currently, Fair, some Cu humilis. 80F 29.95 steady.

Unusual Eastern trough continues occasional thunderstorm issues during a period which should normally be quite dry.
