Wondering what to do with this unusually awesome late-summer weather? Here are some ideas...

  • Check out a film at the Outdoor Film Festival at Strathmore any (or every) night through Sunday in North Bethesda.

  • If you're a James Bond fan, the Crystal Screen offers the best of these movie classics on an outdoor screen Monday nights through late September in Crystal City, as does the NoMA Summer Film Festival on New York Avenue in Northeast D.C.

Keep reading for more outdoor ideas. How long will the awesome weather last? And is there any much-needed rain on the way? See our full forecast.

  • Dip your feet in the fountain while listening to the tunes of The Young Lions this Friday evening at Jazz in the Garden, sponsored by the National Gallery of Art.

  • Visit the "Wings of Fancy" Live Butterfly Exhibit at Brookside Gardens in Wheaton.

  • Watch the seals and sea lions getting fed and learning new tricks at the National Zoo on Sunday at 11:00 a.m.

  • Go to the National Arboretum's "Power Plants" exhibit -- a garden featuring many different plants that offer alternative energy possibilities.

  • Explore the Maryland Renaissance Festival in Crownsville, Md.

  • Check out the Cambodian Community Day Festival in Alexandria this Sunday.

  • Learn about invasive and native plants at the U.S. Botanic Garden, or check out the Cool Globes.

  • Watch the U.S. Marine Corps' Marine Barracks Friday evening parade, listen to the U.S. Army Band's Sunsets with a Soundtrack on the steps of the U.S. Capitol, or check out a summer concert by the U.S. Air Force Band at the new Air Force Memorial in Arlington.

  • Bring a picnic to go and head to one of these convenient picnic locations. Or, if you feel like eating a more formal meal, dine outdoors at one of the many D.C. restaurants with outdoor seating.
