Forecast: Amazing Autumnal Weather

By Camden Walker

WeatherCamEveryone has a different definition of perfect weather. But surely our current pattern must satisfy the criteria of many. Afternoon highs over the next several days will range from the low 70s to near 80. Morning lows will be cool, sometimes crisp. Enjoy the partly to mostly sunny skies. And no rain to interrupt your weekend plans.

TODAY (FRIDAY)

Partly sunny. Lower 70s. A fair amount of clouds in the morning should give way to more and more sun as the day goes on. Still, highs will probably only make it to the low 70s. A breeze from the northeast will be gusty enough to keep a small craft advisory in effect through noon today. But hey, the weather will be quite nice on land.

After dinner, skies will clear up some more and temperatures will drop. Overnight lows will get down to the upper 40s in many suburban locations. Even downtown should see low-to-mid 50s.

Confidence: Medium-High

Curious just how great the weekend will be? Keep reading! See NatCast for tonight's game at Nationals Park, SkinsCast for Sunday's game at FedEx, and our new Weather Wall for the ultimate overview of area current conditions.

TOMORROW (SATURDAY)

Partly to mostly sunny. Mid 70s. A lot like today. But probably more sun, and a tad warmer with highs in the mid 70s. Breezes will be light from the northeast. Comfortable temperatures and low humidity. Wonderful!

Overnight, mostly clear and cool again. Mid 50s downtown. Low 50s in the suburbs. Into the 40s where winds go calm.

Confidence: High

SUNDAY

Mostly sunny. Around 80. A few clouds scattered around during the morning should burn off quickly. Lather on that sunscreen if going out during midday, because not until October do we really see UV ray intensity plummet. Oh, and as if I had to mention: Rain chances? Nil!

Partly cloudy & calm conditions overnight. Lows will stay a little warmer, in the upper 50s. Spots like Luray or Hagerstown could still hit the 50-degree mark. Open those windows and keep the energy savings going -- by turning off the air conditioner.

Confidence: High

A LOOK AHEAD

Monday should be again rain-free with mostly sunny skies and highs in the mid 70s. This pattern sure has incredible staying power. Remember this streak the next time there's weather to complain about. Confidence: Medium-high

On Tuesday, skies should remain mostly clear and temperatures still in the comfort zone. Highs in the low-to-mid 70s. I love room temperature! Confidence: Medium-high

It's amazing that we're actually getting a fall! Usually we go from 90 degrees to 20 degrees and back to 90 degrees. (But it goes from 20 to 40 when there is precipitation coming towards us in the winter, mind you).

It was pretty nice out this morning - I love days like today. Just take away the ragweed and we're good!

yeah, I hear ya on ragweed. I have allergies here too, weatherdudeVA. I never know which med to take (i will try zyrtec, haha)

Janet, thanks for the comment and compliment--glad you like the nice weather and stickers too.

We are indeed having a grand start to meteorological Fall!

Hey, Camden! You've picked up Bob Ryan's misuse of "lather" (on the sunscreen).

It's "slather" -- spread thickly.

Lather is foam (like soap or a horse's sweat).

Yikes, thanks for the heads-up a.h.. I am big on word usage correctness. I think you are more right. But I am not 100% wrong (nor Bob, haha) ...

Great dancing weather, isn't it?

Another such week and the "much-needed rain" folks will be back! Actually they have the hint of a coastal development offshore to tempt/encourage them.

Very interesting altocumulus cloud field this morning. It seemed to be moving NE to SW.

Currently 73F, barometer 30.36.
