PM Update: Climbing Out of Winter's Preview

Nothing scary about Friday's weather

We got a welcome break from the extremely windy conditions of the last few days today as breezes calmed to a more typical level. Add in lots of sunshine, and it is feeling quite a bit warmer today even if temperatures have not risen too high. Readings now in the low 50s will drop through the 40s fairly quickly after the sun sets tonight.

Tonight: We will see clear skies and cold temperatures overnight as winds finally drop off to light levels. Look for readings ranging from the upper 20s in the colder suburbs to the mid 30s in D.C. Winds will be from the west at 5 mph or less.

Halloween: A sun-filled Friday will set the stage for a fantastic evening of trick-or-treating or party going. Highs will hit the mid 60s across the area, and in a second half of October that has generally been much colder than average, a warmer than average day will feel just great. Temperatures should stay in the 50s through much of the evening before creeping into the 40s (outside the city) by 9 p.m. or so. Winds? They will be light and not too much of a nuisance.

Although it is nice the weather will be less windy and cloudy and such, it really is a shame that the chilly air has to leave us.

It was extremely refreshing to have such fall like weather after the brutal late summer and early fall. I hope we will be back down in the 50s for highs once we get in a little bit into November.

Speaking of chilly: 33.8 in McLean right now, with the barometer all the way up to 30.51. Looks like we're going to dip below freezing for good early this morning.
