Hitting the road? Weather will not be to blame for any travel woes today heading away from the D.C. area, unless your destination is as far as or past West Virginia, Western Maryland or western Pennsylvania. Locally, the weather remains mostly calm over the next few days until an uncertain Sunday.

TODAY (WEDNESDAY)

Partly sunny. Mid-to-upper 40s. Not a bad getaway day. Highs will make the mid-to-upper 40s with a mix of sun and clouds. Winds won't be too bad, but a bit breezy at 10-15 mph from the west. Also, no weather worries on roads leading away from the D.C. area, until you reach snow showers in West Virginia, Western Maryland and western Pennsylvania.

Tonight, becoming mostly clear with light winds and lows in the mid 20s to low 30s (suburbs to city).

TOMORROW (THANKSGIVING)

Mostly sunny. Low 50s. Turkey Day is a tame one, with virtually no precipitation in the eastern third of the U.S., save for some snow showers in northwestern Pennsylvania, Upstate New York, Vermont, northern New Hampshire and northern Maine. Locally, temperatures should climb nicely -- to highs in the low 50s -- under mostly sunny skies and with light winds.

Thursday night, increasing clouds and not as cold. Lows in the 30s.

A cold front coming through on Friday doesn't look like it'll have a lot of moisture to work with. Still, a few scattered rain showers could develop. Otherwise, skies are likely to be partly to mostly cloudy with highs in the low 50s. Confidence: Medium
