Update: Partly Sunny Skies Prevail

By Jason Samenow
Clouds: Latest mid-Atlantic infrared satellite loop, courtesy Unisys. Click here to expand. Refresh page to update.

The forecast for overcast conditions and possible drizzle today hasn't materialized due to the strength of the area of high pressure building in from the north. Flow from the northeast will cause some cloud cover, but we should continue to see a fair amount of sunshine with temperatures climbing up to near 60 this afternoon.

See our earlier full forecast for the outlook into next week.

Got overcast this afternoon, and there was some passing showers well north of the area (just north of Baltimore).

I was outside for most of the afternoon, and it was definitely mostly cloudy in Columbia and the surrounding areas. I think Brian's forecast was right on the money.

Yeah I agree with the above post. Also only got to 55 (maybe 56 in between hours) at DCA.

Both the original forecast and the update were half right and half wrong. It was mostly sunny this morning, partly sunny early in the afternoon, and mostly cloudy in the late afternoon and evening. There was no drizzle, and the high at DCA was 57, and the high at IAD was 58. Basically, take the average of both forecasts, and that's what we ended up with...
