Hotel Savings a Reason to Root for Cold
* Warming Up: Full Forecast | Going Out? Check Temps: Weather Wall *
Many hotel guests in Fairfax County were probably quite happy about yesterday's cold temperatures. As part of a Visit Fairfax and Weatherbug promotion, their Saturday rate was determined by putting a dollar sign in front of the temperature recorded at noon at Dulles Airport. The same deal applies to Saturdays through January (offer not valid the Saturday before Inauguration Day -- aw shucks!). A two-night stay is required.
The promotion, which started the last Saturday in November, has gotten off to a good start as far as guests are concerned, with noon temperatures of 45 on Sat. Nov. 29, 30 on Sat. Dec. 6, and 34 yesterday.
Go to this Visit Fairfax page to search for participating hotels.

KBurchfiel: HAHAH! Nah, they'd close and say their pipes burst or something to get out of paying you to spend the night. Hee.

Imagine if the temperature got below 0. They would pay you to spend the night!
