Inauguration Weather Forecast: Cold, Flaky?

CWG's Full Forecast Through Inauguration Weekend

INAUGURATIONCAST
Tuesday, January 20, 2009
MORNING LOW SWEARING IN* WEATHER CHANCE OF PRECIP
21-26F 28-33F Mostly cloudy 25%
There's little doubt left it's going to be a cold day. Temperatures will probably start the day in the 20s, rising to around freezing (plus or minus a few degrees) for the swearing in, and then maxing out around the mid-30s mid-afternoon (plus or minus a few degrees).

The wild card is the possibility of a fast-moving disturbance rippling through the region and producing considerable cloudiness along with some light snow or flurries. As this disturbance hasn't even formed yet, it's too early to predict its timing and how much snow, if any, it will produce. Stay tuned.

Confidence: Low-Medium

*Swearing in is scheduled for noon.

WEATHER OF INAUGURATIONS PAST

I'll be the one to ask a stupid question.

So is rain out of the question? I'll take snow over rain.

What about wind? Read earlier that preliminary forecasts called for gusts in the 20-30 mph range...

Yes, what about the wind on Tuesday? This morning was plenty cold, but manageable, until the wind whipped up.

re: the wind

At the moment, the wind doesn't look to be a big deal, but may be around 10-15 mph...which would add to the chill somewhat.

@jeter6nyy

Yes--I'd say rain is pretty much out of the question.

Gosh, I'm so worried about global warming!! I hope Al Gore wears a short-sleeve polo shirt to show us all how the United States is melting due to the extreme year-round heat he is so worried about. ha ha
