Forecast: No Rain on Mom's Parade

By Brian Jackson

* Drought Out, Pollen In | Weather & Swine Flu *

EXPRESS FORECAST

Today: Mostly sunny, breezy. 72-75 | Tonight: Mostly clear. 48-51. | Tomorrow: Sun and clouds. 68-72. | A Look Ahead

FORECAST IN DETAIL

Say good-bye to the damp pattern as high pressure begins to take residence over a large portion of the eastern U.S. After receiving nearly 3.5 inches of rain since Apr. 29, several days of pleasant but coolish weather are our reward. The next several days will remind us how nice our spring can be here in the metro region.

Today (Mother's Day): Mother Nature must know what day it is as she has parted the skies at the perfect time. An ideal spring day is in store with mostly sunny skies and some fair weather clouds floating by. Our afternoon highs will be quite comfortable in the mid-70s. It will be a little breezy at times, with winds out of the west at 15-20 mph. Confidence: High

Tonight: A quiet and cool night ends our weekend. Clear skies will be the norm with overnight lows in the upper 40s to the low 50s. Winds may still be breezy through the evening but should begin to diminish over night, blowing from the northwest at 5-15 mph. Confidence: High

Tomorrow (Monday): Another nice day is in store to begin the week. Temperatures will begin a slight cooling trend but will still be quite pleasant with highs in the lower 70s. Expect a mix of clouds and sun to rotate through the skies with a fair amount of both to be expected. Winds will turn more out of the north blowing at 5-15 mph. Confidence: Medium-High

Tomorrow Night: Clear and cool will again be the words for the overnight, though this time we may be able to add calm to that list. Starry skies will sparkle above and lows will drop into the mid-to-upper 40s (even some low 40s in the cooler suburbs). Winds will be light out of the north-northeast and may go calm for a few hours towards dawn. Confidence: Medium-High

A LOOK AHEAD

Tuesday and Wednesday continue our stretch of pleasant weather. We'll continue to be cool but comfortable with highs both days in the upper 60s to near 70. Plenty of sun will shine as well. A couple of fine days to find some time for a round of golf if you enjoy the links. For the overnights, mostly clear with lows in the upper 40s to low 50s (mid-40s in the cooler suburbs). Confidence: Medium-High

Nice but rather windy today.

Most likely rain threat is Thursday or Thursday/Friday with a frontal passage.

I am enjoying this glorious weather after the 11-day monsoon we experienced.
