FORECAST IN DETAIL
After another day today with both temperatures and humidity well below normal, summer attempts a comeback this weekend with warmer temperatures, humidity creeping upward, and the return of shower and storm chances. Much of the weekend, though, should be just fine for outdoor activities. And, remarkably, the combination of high heat and oppressive humidity continues to be a no-show into early next week.
Today (Friday): The work week ends partly to mostly sunny. Highs will be right around where they were yesterday -- near 80 or into the low 80s -- and humidity still pretty low. A light breeze will blow from the east in the morning and south-southeast in the afternoon. Nice and comfortable I think! Do you like our "boring" status-quo weather? Confidence: Medium-High
Tonight: We'll have nice and calm conditions. Maybe a very light south breeze. Skies should be partly cloudy and temperatures oh-so-pleasant. Lows in the mid-60s downtown. Leesburg and Fredericksburg, you may be those usual cooler spots, perhaps getting down into the low 60s to right around 60. Confidence: Medium-High
Should I be worried about any weekend showers or storms? Keep reading...
Tomorrow (Saturday): We'll be a bit warmer with highs in the upper 80s. Light winds from the south will also bring in a touch more humidity, but not too bad I'd say. Skies should again be partly sunny, but with clouds blossoming by afternoon. Some showers and thunderstorms could move in during the late afternoon (40% chance). Confidence: Medium
Tomorrow Night: Some rain is possible for the evening and into the overnight. But there's also a chance that much of the precipitation misses the metro area to the north. Check back later and tomorrow for updates, especially if you're planning a night out on the town. Overall it'll be muggier than we've been in a while with lows near 70 or a few degrees above. Confidence: Low-Medium
Sunday: I think we'll have some sun, but also some periods with more clouds than sun. Especially by the afternoon, as highs in the upper 80s and a surge of more humid air energize the atmosphere, expect a 30% chance of showers and thunderstorms. Confidence: Medium
Other than the chance of an evening shower or thunderstorm, the rest of Sunday night should be a partly cloudy and fairly uneventful end to our weekend. Lows in the upper 60s. Confidence: Medium
For Monday we're looking for partly to mostly sunny conditions, a small chance of a shower or thunderstorm, and highs in the mid-80s. Confidence: Medium
Maybe a little warmer on Tuesday with temperatures aiming for highs in the upper 80s. I think you'll enjoy the expected partly to mostly sunny skies. Confidence: Medium
