Forecast: Humid Without High Heat

By Dan Stillman

Rain still hard to come by today; better chance tomorrow

Today: Partly sunny & more humid. Passing p.m. shower/storm? 83-88. | Tonight: Isolated evening shower/storm. 68-73. | Tomorrow: Clouds & sun. Humid. 40-50% chance of showers/storms. Mid-80s. | A Look Ahead

Well, well, well. What do we have here? An honest-to-goodness humid day. And tomorrow we'll be even more humid. In almost any other summer, a pair of humid days would barely merit a mention. But this summer, at least until now, the humidity has been largely MIA. Also missing from this summer has been a classic D.C. heat wave. That, it appears, will continue to be the case for the forseeable future. Though we will be generally warm and humid, with a few shower and storm chances, through the weekend.

Today (Wednesday): With dew points well into the 60s, today will be more humid than it's been in a while, though still not the oppressive combo of humidity and high heat we often get this time of year. Highs should make the mid-80s, maybe some upper 80s, with partly sunny skies and a 30% chance you'll see a passing afternoon or evening shower or storm. Confidence: Medium-High

Tonight: Maybe an isolated evening shower or storm. Otherwise partly cloudy and muggy overnight with lows mostly in the low 70s, some upper 60s in the typically cooler suburbs. Confidence: Medium-High

Keep reading for the forecast through the weekend....

Tomorrow (Thursday): Pretty much the same as Wednesday: A mix of clouds and sun, highs in the mid-80s and quite humid, and a little better chance (40-50%) of some scattered showers and storms. Confidence: Medium

Tomorrow Night: Muggy conditions continue with just an isolated shower or storm and lows within a few degrees of 70. Confidence: Medium

I think we'll fare a little better in the humidity department on Friday -- in the moderate range rather than high -- as partly sunny skies lift highs to the mid-to-upper 80s. And we're back down to around a 30% chance that you'll see an afternoon or evening shower or storm wherever you happen to be. Confidence: Medium

For a change, here comes a hot and humid weekend with temperatures making a bid for highs in the upper 80s to low 90s. Rain chances should be minimal on Saturday -- maybe an isolated shower or storm in the afternoon or evening. Depending on the timing of an approachig cold front, late Sunday could see an increased chance of showers and storms. Confidence: Medium

Hey, it couldn't last!

I'm one of the ones hoping for some rain here, though I hate to see Bombo's dances dampened. I enjoy the dry weather like everyone else, but I'd like to see some moisture. Just not tropical!

Rain, rain, here comes the rain...
Oh. no. I predict no rain till September. :-(
Last year was dry as hell for meat of summer too then Harricane Hana dumped 5 in on us in a few hours to save the season...

So, we just had a wonderful fire drill here, and I've come to the conclusion that it's downright sticky outside.

Finally! A taste of humidity. Been waiting for this all summer as it's the final ingredient I need in getting down to my ideal weight. A 5 mile run in the humidity helps shed the pounds.

It's too darned humid...let's get back to the cool, clear Northwoods style weather.

This humidity is another right-wing conspiracy...please see my post in the next thread.

Little popcorn showers lighting off around the area now. Bowie-Odenton looks to be getting the heaviest of it currently.
