Lost amongst the news that Michael Vick signed with the Eagles and that the Redskins laid an egg in in their first preseason game was the revelation that EA SPORTS will incorporate weather in the latest release of its popular football video game series. "Madden NFL 10" hits stores today and Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions will receive up-to-date weather feeds from The Weather Channel to simulate real-time weather conditions "in the game."
"Now if it's snowing in Pittsburgh, it will be snowing on your screen and affect the play of the game," said Nathan Stewart, director of marketing for EA SPORTS.

It often DOES snow in Pittsburgh during the cool season, particularly in November and early December before Lake Erie freezes. Pittsburgh doesn't get as much from the Lake Effect snows as places farther north and west nearer the Lakes, but it gets a fair amount.....and it is close to the orographic effects of the moist winds hitting the Western slopes of the Alleghenies and rising, causing more snow.
