FORECAST IN DETAIL
Carpe Diem, "enjoy it while it lasts", and all those other fine weather clichés are in order. Magnificent weather is here for the next few days before the next cold front arrives towards mid-week. Being from upstate N.Y., I tend to think of October as the beginning of the 6-months of no sun, so any day with mild temperatures and lots of sun is welcome in my book.
Today (Sunday): Don't fix what ain't broke! Yesterdays niceties will continue today. A few high clouds are possible in the morning across the northern suburbs but abundant sunshine will take over for the rest of the day. Temperatures will continue to be mild as well, with highs in the low-to-mid 70s. Winds will be from the northwest at 5-15 mph. Confidence: High
Tonight: Clear and crisp, possibly my favorite forecasting phrase. We'll cool off quickly tonight under starry skies, with overnight lows hovering around 50 in the metro area, though if winds diminish, we could join the suburbs in the upper-40s. Some of the outlying cool spots could drop as low as the low-to-mid 40s. Winds will be light, from the northwest at around 5 mph. Confidence: High

Tomorrow: Lets make it 3 in a row! Again lots of sun will greet you on the way to work, and those of you who leave early enough might need a light jacket. Still, we'll warm up quite nicely and temperatures will reach highs in the low-to-mid 70s once again for another beautiful fall day in D.C. Winds will continue from the northwest at 5-10 mph. Confidence: High
Tomorrow Night: Once again you'll head to bed under starry skies and wake up with a bright light coming through the shades (especially if you've got an eastern facing bedroom like mine, ugh). But, you can't beat this for sleeping weather as once again, lows will dip into the lower 50s. Winds will begin to shift to north-northeasterly at around 5 mph. Confidence: High
Tuesday will again start out sunny and should be for the better part of the day. By late afternoon, developing northeasterly flow could dim our spirits with a layer of clouds. It's also possible for a few showers mostly in southern/eastern Va. and out on the peninsula. Highs will likely be in the low 70s. Overnight, a cold front begins to approach from the west creating mostly cloudy skies. Rain chances increase towards morning from west to east and overnight lows will be in the lower 60s. Confidence: Medium-High
Wednesday should begin with a broken line of showers moving through the area. This should work its way out of the area by the afternoon and leave partial clearing and gusty winds in its wake. Afternoon temperatures will be near 70, but a morning high in the mid-70s is possible before the front makes it through. Confidence: Medium

Thanks for the great weather this weekend. Caps home opener was perfect outside for the pre-game strutting and we're having an open house today.
Love this time of year, my favorite...

From what I heard we may have only a tenth to quarter inch of rain all week.
