Foliage photos: Reflections of autumn in D.C.

By Kevin Ambrose

* A mostly bright week: Full Forecast | Best of Sesame Street weather *

Sunrise Nov. 7 at the Tidal Basin.

I made a couple trips around the area earlier this month to photograph foliage. The color seemed to be peaking downtown around the Potomac and the Mall while west of the city the trees seemed past peak. I decided to group a few D.C. shots together with a reflection theme. Below are a few of my favorite (or unique) photos. The Tidal Basin and puddles from early-November rains provided the reflections.

Sunrise approaches at the Tidal Basin on Nov. 7. The leaves on the famous cherry blossom trees show color.

Surface fog on the Tidal Basin slightly blurs the reflection of the Jefferson Memorial.

The Washington Monument reflects in a puddle on the Mall with recently fallen leaves scattered on the ground.

Nice shots Kevin. Sadly I seem to have missed the foliage season thanks to work being hectic... hopefully we get a lot of snow to photograph this winter!

These are some nice photos . . . not sure I'd call them fall foliage though (at least not any more than I'd call them water photos).

ah__, Yes, not exactly the typical fall foliage photos for this post. I grouped a few of the photos from the shoots with a reflection theme.

MKadyman, Stay tuned for the contributor's photo contest post.
