FORECAST IN DETAIL
Sometimes a cold front will sweep our area, but the cold air will significantly lag behind. That is expected to happen today as windy and variably cloudy skies mix with temperatures in the 50s and 60s. Colder conditions will filter into the region tonight and tomorrow, which sets the stage for our wintry concern on Saturday. Please consult our Snow Lover's Crystal Ball for more on the possibility for our first flakes of the season!

Today (Thursday): Windy weather today with temperatures holding in the upper 50s to low 60s north and west, but more likely low to middle 60s in the city to points south and east. Sky conditions will be quite variable over the area as a vigorous storm strengthens well to our north. There is just a 30% chance of lingering showers, especially in the early morning. Confidence: Medium
Tonight: Partly cloudy skies, calming winds, and lows in the 30s are the main expectation throughout the area (far western/northern suburbs could touch the freezing mark). Confidence: Medium

Tomorrow (Friday): Some sunshine is expected in the morning, but increasing clouds are expected in the afternoon. Look for generally colder conditions with upper 40s to low 50s along with light and variable winds. Confidence: Medium
Tomorrow Night: Expect cloudy skies, lows in the low-to-mid 30s, and light winds from the north. Confidence: Medium
Saturday still looks tricky. Cloudy skies are a safe bet, but uncertainty around a storm track continues to challenge the forecast. Right now, the best thinking is a 60% chance of light rain and/or snow developing later on Saturday morning and ending Saturday early to middle evening. Our relatively warm ground will likely prevent significant accumulation if the snow option occurs but refer to our Snow Lover's Crystal Ball for the range of options. Look for highs only in the 30s. Confidence: Low
Sunday should be cloudy in the morning, but could see some afternoon breaks. It will be a brisk day, with highs in the low 40s with breezy winds from the north and west. Confidence: Low-Medium
Early next week probably remains on the colder side with highs in the 40s and lows in the 20s to low 30s. Confidence: Low-Medium

Some TV meteorologists are beginning to enhance the chances of snow on Saturday. There's a bigger chance of at least one inch to our south.
