FORECAST IN DETAIL

I'm running out of ways to say "nice" for this recent stretch of weather we're enjoying. There's not much change looming either. What little chance for showers we do have occurs late Monday, clearing out in time for some 80s by Tuesday and Wednesday! Any meaningful cool down waits until at least Thursday.

Today (Sunday): In a near repeat of yesterday, morning clouds (though not as thick) give way to another afternoon of sun. Temperatures climb into the mid-70s for our daytime highs. We'll also enjoy a nice light breeze from the north at less than 10 mph. If you haven't gotten out to see the cherry blossoms by now, today's your chance! Confidence: High

Tonight: The pleasant conditions continue overnight as partly cloudy skies only partially obstruct our view of the cosmos. Overnight lows will be refreshing, from the upper 40s in the cooler suburbs to the low-to-mid 50s downtown. Winds will likely go calm overnight, with what little wind that does blow likely coming from the south. Confidence: High

Keep reading to see if anything can put a damper on our weather this week....

Tomorrow (Monday): Still pretty nice out there despite some increase in clouds as a weak front approaches. Mostly sunny skies early will transition to mostly cloudy late with an outside (20%) chance of a sprinkle or shower. But you won't hear many complaints as southerly flow helps push highs into the upper 70s. Confidence: Medium-High

Tomorrow Night: The most "iffy" period for this forecast is tomorrow late afternoon through evening, when we'll see a weak system pass by and generate mostly cloudy skies. We may also see a few light showers, but they will more likely occur to the north and west as the Appalachians should do a decent job of blocking the moisture from our area. Overnight lows in the low-to-mid 50s. Confidence: Medium-High

A LOOK AHEAD

What clouds are left behind by the front will soon move away, leaving Tuesday and Wednesday to be some of our best (or at least warmest) weather yet. Sunny skies will return and renewed high pressure to our south should pump temperatures into the low 80s for highs both days. During the nighttime hours, we'll have partly to mostly cloudy skies both nights and mild lows in the 50s. Confidence: Medium-High

NWS has "hot" in the forecast for a first time in a long time in the DC zone product for Tuesday!

Speaking of hot: is the heat going to be that SW moderate humidity heat or is the feeling that the heat is going to be the drier down-slope type of heat? With a high pressure system parked of the SE coast one tends to think a SW breeze would dominate but in this case maybe not? Looks like air in the upper atmosphere stays dry through Wednesday.

Absolutely SPLENDID day downtown at the fest. I really want to forego the traditional easter dinner and just break out the grill!
