Spring: in one day, out the next

Perhaps the words of Robert Frost best describe Washington's weather so far this spring:
The sun was warm but the wind was chill. You know how it is with an April day
When the sun is out and the wind is still
You're one month on in the middle of May.
But if you so much as dare to speak,
A cloud comes over the sunlit arch,
A wind comes off a frozen peak,
And you're two months back in the middle of March.--Robert Frost, Two Tramps in Mud Time (1936)

BTW, what on earth is holding up that cold front NW of us? Indeed, there's a classic Bermuda High off the coast, but they are usually not strong enough at this time of year to hold fronts up that long.

The warmth is nice. The lack of shade since the leaves aren't all in yet, less so. The shade is noticeably more comfortable than the sun (heh, which proves it's not summer in DC yet after all).

I'm just glad that this DISGUSTING heat is taking place during the work week, so I can avoid the midday highs. I'm looking forward to the cool air returning this weekend!!!!
I abhor summer heat, particularly when there is no A/C on yet in my building :(

Everyone knows that DC only has 3 seasons: summer, fall, winter.

Sweating a little, but not profusely.....the fairly low dewpoints are helping here, and letting it cool off at night. Those low dew points are simply not going to happen with a southerly flow later in the season.
