Rapping weatherman won't be rapping anymore

By Jason Samenow

(edited and updated on 9/8 and 9/9)

Have you seen/heard the famed "rapping weatherman" Nick Kosir of the FOX affiliate in Beaumont, Texas? The internet sensation, whose performances have caught the attention of Bill O'Reilly, Ryan Seacrest and Ellen Degeneres, is leaving Beaumont for a big market gig in San Francisco.

But SF Weekly reports Kosir's rapping days are history. Its source? The general manager at KRON Brian Grief, the station that lured Kosir to the City by the Bay:

"He's been hired. He isn't going to be rapping," says Greif. "What works in his current market may not work in San Francisco. Weather is very serious to us."

Keep reading to see some of this rapper's material...

Honestly, I'm not sure how this guy wasn't on CWG's radar sooner as we've blogged in the past about other crazy weather acts (e.g. bad weatherman "Louis", AccuWeather's Jim Kosek, a singing Norwegian weather gal, and another rapping act.) Must have been the summer's record-breaking heat. But this guy's stuff is good...

My reaction to the news that Kosir will be barred from rapping at KRON?

Bad business decision.

Why would the station shut down an act that has gone viral over the net? And in San Francisco of all places?

The weather in San Francisco is as mild and repetitive as it gets. What's there to be so serious about? An occasional rap could be just what's needed to break the monotony of morning fog/drizzle, afternoon sunshine and a high of 60-65.

I can hear it now (some rhymes I came up with shortly after I originally posted this piece, but surely Kosir can do better):

We got the morning fog, some nasty smog
Hangin' in the drizzle, rockin' moist fo' shizzle
Then we roll sunny, spikin' up to sitty
Pimpin' in the trolley, the view looks so pretty

Somehow, I doubt we've heard Kosir's last rap.

Quiet out there today? Can anyone come up with some creative weather rap lyrics for DC, or elsewhere?

Heat got me beat
Cool front gonna' brunt
Hermine trekking down south
Won't help our D.C. drought
Stinkbugs, ragweed messing up fall
Achin' for Snow Lovers Crystal Ball
But jus' gotta' grin and bear
'Til flakes fly, come December

"Weather is very serious to us."

Weather. Serious business.

For San Fran:

We got the morning fog, some nasty smog
Hangin' in the drizzle, rockin moist fo shizzle

Then we roll sunny, spikin up to sitty
Pimpin in the trolley, the view looks so pretty

That was really bad :)

@JerryFloyd1

That's awesome. Anyone else going to give us lyrics?

Sheesh, those are pretty bad. This one's better by Arlington's Remy.

KRON hasn't been affiliated with NBC in over 8 years. It is an indepedent station that alternates between news repeats of "dr. phil."

@tag2 -- Thanks for letting us know. We'll correct that.
