Yeah, it collapsed in 1982 due to snow. I'm not sure if I understand the benefit of building an inflatable dome in a city that is often very windy and snowy. That video was insane.

Maybe the next roof should have a steeper pitch...
In other news, we picked up a trace accumulation of snow/sleet this afternoon @1900 ft east of Front Royal. Currently 32.7F and foggy.

Reminds me of the roof collapse of the Hartford Civic Center in the late 70's. The stadium had been full of UConn basketball fans just hours before. My mom worked in the Civic Center back then.

And...as I posted separately, our MUCH-UNNEEDED rain may have cost the Redskins the game with Tampa Bay--we were unable to handle the snap on the extra point, and the Bucs won 17-16...we could have at least forced the game into overtime.
The "Curse of Raljon" strikes again!!!

For what it's worth, the Dome also tore during a severe thunderstorm, soaking the fans in left field.

Heavy snow isn't exactly something new to Minneapolis, so it's hard to believe the Metrodome was built without specs to account for the possibility of something just like this.
Anyone know if the Metrodome has experienced a near of real threat of collapse from snow since it was constructed??
