Rep. Jefferson Running for Re-election
Jefferson announced today that he is running for re-election to a 10th term in the House.
"My family and I have sworn a great oath to trust God and to fight on to vindicate ourselves and our good name," Jefferson said in a statement, according to the New Orleans Times-Picayune. "This we will do. And, in none of it, will I or they sacrifice our continued strong commitment and effective delivery of the things our people need to recover from the storm and from a bad economy."
How, you might be thinking to yourself, can he possibly expect to win re-election when he's facing a raft of criminal charges and an unrelenting wall of negative stories? Well, he's done it before, winning in 2006 despite the fact that his ethical woes had been heavily publicized. His stubbornness seemed to work with voters then, so maybe it will again this November. Even if it doesn't keep him out of jail.
