Cantor Chosen for VP! (By a Blog)

Three news items:

1) John McCain has picked a running mate and may announce/leak the choice tonight.

2) McCain has admitted he is computer "illiterate."

Both of which make it unlikely that he will be much swayed by ...

3) "The Directors" of the conservative site Red State have endorsed Rep. Eric Cantor (Va.) as the best choice for VP.

Why Cantor? "While a young man, Cantor has served in federal office twice as long as Barack Obama -- and was a member of leadership when Obama was still in Springfield. In that short time, he has established himself as a dedicated and intelligent member of the House," the directors -- the six bloggers who make up the site's board -- write, later concluding: "John McCain makes people of all political stripes proud to be American. Eric Cantor will make you proud to be a Republican. We need him. He fights."

Cantor's endorsement by the influential conservative blog marks the apex of the Virginian's VP boomlet. Never quite mentioned on any final short-lists, Cantor nonetheless does appear to have been at least considered for the post and has earned a fair amount of media coverage and a Web site touting his candidacy.

The case for Cantor typically includes the facts that he's conservative (more so than McCain), a rising star in the House (fun Nexis search: rising star w/3 Cantor), youthful (45), from a swing state and Jewish (Florida!).

Alas, unless all the final-stage press reports on McCain's VP search are wrong (and there's no chance of that, right?), it looks like Cantor is not the pick. But in case you haven't heard, he's a young man with a bright future, so there's always next time.

Is there a competition to see which Post intern can come up with the most not newsworthy story?

Cantor is a huge rising star--he may not get it this time, but he should be around for a long time.

Would'nt it be great to have such a young and computer literate VP? One who also has so much business and government experience? And is a true conservative. One can only dream. But Eric Cantor certainly will go far at whatever he sets his mind at. He's a hard working and very likable guy. The sky is the limit in America for someone with his talents.

McCain should get another POW as a running mate, just in case no one's heard he was a POW centuries ago. The double POW's. The POW WOW's.

Or, maybe he should name Aricept or Namenda as his vice president

Lyndon LaRouche predicts McCain will install billionaire NYC Mayor Bloomberg to be his VP tomorrow as per oligarghy made up of international bankers and financiers. He will fulfill their agenda of privatizing U.S. government's programs, infrastructure and jobs for big profit$$$ as the depressing economy threatens their wealth.

The country is going into a major economic depression with over 5000 banks are already bankrupt today with more day by day.

Hillary was rid of because she would fix the economy by bringing back President FDR's economic Bretton Woods policy to fix current economic collapse. This policy caters to the 80% of the forgotten people and threatens the oligarghy's wealth and whose ultimate goal is to rid of all governments, peoples' sovereingties and Constitutions and ultimately install fascism.

I guess choosing the only nationally-elected Republican Jew as your VP makes sense. One that is more hawkish than Lieberman, too. Good call.

Pick is ................ Lieberman
