Today on the Hill
The Senate will convene at 10 a.m. A vote on the Economic Recovery and Reinvestment Act is expected around noon.
As for Noteworthy Committee Hearings:
Banking -- Meets at 2:30 p.m. to approve Austan Goolsbee and Cecilia Elena Rouse to be members of the Council of Economic Advisers. The Committee also hears a report from Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner on the status of the Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP).
Judiciary -- Meets at 10 a.m.for a hearing on the nominations of Elena Kagan, to be Solicitor General of the United States, and Thomas John Perrelli, to be Associate Attorney General.
The House convenes at noon and 2 p.m. for legislative business. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is holding an honorary reception for Rep. John Dingell, D-Mich., who is the longest serving member of the House, first elected in 1955.
