Men's Basketball Update
Some quick notes from men's basketball practice on Friday (I'm not allowed to report on specific from practice, which is why these remain general)...
- This is the way Bennett describes his practices: "You can't do everything, so you just got be really solid and make sure we're always touching areas that are constants. It's pretty long in the duration of the pre-practice [the warm-ups before practice begins]. You always got to take a look at the time. This is the time we're trying to get better and work. So, we try to keep the practices moving at a brisk pace, and have guys locked in. But also teach at times."
- Guard Sammy Zeglinski did not participate because of an ankle injury, although neither Zeglinski nor Bennett considered the injury anything to worry about. He should be back within the next few days. It was not the same ankle that cost Zeglinski his freshman season.
Zeglinksi was often observing the practice with Bennett, picking the coach's brain. Bennett said last week that he wants Zeglinski to be an extension of him on the court.
- Tony Bennett planned to bring referees to Saturday's practice. There are calls -- such as sliding on screens, hand checks -- that come better from an official's whistle than a coach's instruction, Bennett said.
