Players nickname Groh 'Jeezy'
Reporters have started to call Virginia Coach Al Groh “Mr. October” for his October success. The nickname has not caught on with his players, though.
What is the players’ nickname for Groh? “We call him ‘Jeezy,’ ” linebacker Denzel Burrell said, “after the rapper, ‘Young Jeezy.’ ”
Burrell was then asked if Groh, 65, even understood the nickname.
“I believe he actually does understand the reference,” Burrell said. “He references hip-hop at times. He knows Kanye West and a couple of the other guys we really like. He actually may know the reference, but that’s basically one of the main ones we call him. But we’ll probably stay away from Mr. October.”
This is a musical revelation about Groh, who this season alone has provided the lyrics to a Tom Petty song and discussed the U2 CDs he owns. Jon Bon Jovi has also come up at times during the past two seasons.

What a shocker. Someone 65 years old may actually know rapper lyrics and own U-2 music. What is the world coming to?
