Jamil Tucker takes leave of absence
Virginia forward Jamil Tucker has taken an indefinite leave of absence, Coach Tony Bennett announced in a statement Wednesday.
“Jamil has some things he has to deal with at this time,” Bennett said in the statement. “This leave of absence will give him time to deal with these matters.”
Tucker, a 6-foot-9 senior from Gary, Ind., will not play in games or practice with the team during his leave of absence. Tucker played in all 28 games and started four for Virginia last season. He averaged 7.4 points, 3.8 rebounds in 18.5 minutes. He shot 44.2 percent from the field and 40.3 percent (31-77) from three-point range.
I spoke to Tucker last Thursday, and he sounded genuinely optimistic about taking this season seriously and making the most of his last season before attempting a career in professional basketball. He even went to New York this summer to try to emulate Sylven Landesberg's offseason training. Although Tucker did not participate in all of Landesberg's sessions, it was a sign of dedication.

Hmmm is right. I hope Jamil can sort out what he needs to- be it transfer options, family issues, grades, whatever. We're thin up front with Mike Scott hurt, Sene suspended, and Jamil on leave.
While not a lights out player, he does present match up problems with his height and shooting range.
Wow, the new guy is suspending players and making guys take leaves of absence? He sounds like the old guy?
